When I swapped out 2007 ZX6R forks & brakes on my '03 Z1000; I had to change the master cylinder. I used a unit from a '07 Z1000, because they switched to Radial mount brakes that year. I also used the Z1000 master because that unit has the mirror stalk on it opposed to the Ninja MC. I have black OEM levers, but Z1000's are silver, so I am using a zx6r brake lever.
I NEED a new clutch lever... Seems like ever since I've owned this bike; that lever has so much slop in it. Good to know that it doesn't matter what year for a decent black lever.
I recently added a '06 zx6r rear shock. Finally, my rear is up to speed with the Ninja forks. There is a slight mm offset if you just swap shocks, but I got my shock with all the linkage, and that helped. I had to carry over one of the lower mounting bolts, because the Ninja bolt was very long, but my original bolt worked great. I think it sits @ 5mm lower, but that ain't much.
My bike is SO much more stable now; leaned over or in a straight line.
With 65k on the clock; it was time for suspension maintenance.
Oh yeah, and since I was trying to rid of all the gold... I swapped a rear wave rotor off a 650 Ninja to match the front wave rotors, and it fit perfectly under the black zx10r rear caliper.
