2010 Z1000 (DAF) airbox mod?

what does the airbox mod entail on the 2010 Z1000

  1. anymore pictures of this. If someone can maybe post your pictures as your doing it.

    They are removing the auto tune and installing the FCE and BMC modding the box and installing Ivan's map.

what will removing the bottom pan do? I thought the box was closed/sealed so when you are at speed it produced some pressure in the air box (like the SRAD system from Suzuki)

personally paul i think if it was me, i would leave the airbox alone. just my 2 cents...

yeah its not a drastic diff or anything. i did it just to do it and knew i was getting dyno tuned so figured why not. i def wouldnt mess with the airbox without plans of having either a auto tuner or getting a custom tune done.

Thanks guys from what I can tell the airbox has this "internal panel for absolutely no reason, I would love to know why its there as I don't see that it can perform any real function as it is completely sealed on the other side, just dead weight if you ask me!!

looking at it more carefully you can see the lip just by the large inlet doesn't go all the way across, I wonder if its some sort of moisture trap?? It must have a purpose or is it like Paris Hilton .......... completely pointless.

looks like the screws would be prevented from entering the engine by the air filter.
