I would imagine the difference is the same as the difference between the zx6r and the zzr 600. Just a more touring oriented version of the same bike, without being a true touring bike. I'm torn between a zx12r and a zrx1100-1200r myself for my "I need this thing to be ridiculously fast" toy. Can't do it to the Z, I'm already in the process of turning it into the ultimate street fighter. I'll post a build thread by feb or march.

I've heard the zx12r is a great bike, just below the busa with better handling but a little less power and the only knocks I've heard is that there is a part of the wiring that always gums up with oil, there's a minor lighting problem and the throttle is somewhat like a on/off switch. All of those things are easy fixes with a little work and a pcIII I would think.

From what I've read, turbos are pretty easy to put on the zrxs', so that might be the deciding factor for me.:D

the ZRX is not faster the Z 1000. i had one, i liked it mostly for its old school looks. the ZED hadles night and day better. i still love the ZRX though. but after getting my ZED i never dream about the ZRX. my 02 1200 ZRX pullled 117 RWHP with a muzzy slip. i never put it on the scale but it is a lot heaver than the Z 1000.

I didn't mean that the ZRX was faster by any means. It's heavier and about 15 hp shorter than the Z, and slightly heavier but 60 hp shorter than the ZX12R. I just like the old school looks of them and the fact that there's no fairing or frame in the way for mounting a turbo and with the engine being basically a ZX11 engine, there's mucho parts available for making totally unnecessary power.:D

I like my Z and don't want to change anything substantial about the engine that would make it unfriendly to ride daily is all. So the ZX12R, ZRX and even a ZX9R are all in the running for my lightspeed toy because any of them can be had for under $4000.

The ZRX is a remade KZ1000. I personally love those bikes but they are heavy and slow. Personally if I was going to pic between the zx12r and the ZZR I think it would have to be the ZZR. And only because I had a ZZR 600 (zx6E model which has the same styling) And would be good for touring. My speed will come from the Z the ZZR would be a good wekend trip bike. JMO
