Once I get the girl broke in I am going to do a comparison on the two bikes. I want to be fair, My 07 had full Akarpovic, pcIII, K&N FILTER, air box mod, Butter flys removed,cool air injection blocked off, +1 rear sprocket, renthal street fighter bars, Corbin seat.good breaded brake line,ect. the 2010 is totally stock.So far the 07 wins but I haven't broke it in yet. I did a 70 mile loop a round Charlotte last night and the 10 dose vib more than the 07 at 5,000 rpm but I read thats because the 07 had full exhaust, which makes it smoother. more up dates later.don't comment unless you have rode both bikes! or else thats just a opinion. An opinions are like A-holes and we all have one. You KNEW THIS WAS COMING RIGHT? :D:eek:

I like mine and they wrok real well from 0 to 6,000 rpm absolutely no vibration in the bars anymore. Still get a little buzz over 9 but I can live with that since it is well over my cruising range, somedays! LOL

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the seat of the pants differences.

Rode both, 2010 faster, handels better, more comfortable and looks better. No comparison. The first Z is better than the Zepher though.

Rode home on the new Z1000 left Fort Mill,SC on Hwy5 up to Hwy 74W. tHEN HWY 64W threw Chimney rock then hit the Blue ridge park way South to the end. then on to the house. 398 mile trip. now on to the bike comp.First the 2010 vibs 40% more than the 07.don't get mad just listen. buy the time I got to the curvie stuff my tires was scuffed in so as I got more confidence and as the pace pick up I feel the 10 is a easer bike to ride fast with more confidence. the seat sucks period. As I said my 07 was not stock. I havent got in to the top end power yet but low to mid I pick the 07. All though with the same mods to the 10 it would be the the faster bike. MPG the first tank of gas I got 98 mile only the 2nd tank 130 3thr tank 150 not bad for a 4 gallon tank.Over all the 2010 will be the better bike after mods are done. I just hope the vibs will disapear when all is done:rolleyes:

the 2010 has a LOT more roll on punch, not even close. my best friend has a 2010. i have swaped bikes on many rides. my friend is 6-4 and i am 6-1. he tells me my 04 has a better reach to the bars than his bike. he also tells me his 2010 always wants to force his body to much forward. he also says WHAT vibration. he loves my 2004. his words not mine.
my bike in a race is just as fast as his bike, i just need to start the race around 7,000 rpm to have a chance. my bike is stock except a full MUZZY. no are box mod or PC. he has a PC5 and white bros slips. sorry zepher boy the 07 is a lot slower than the 03-06 to compair to the new Z1000. just a fact. the 2010 and my 04 both make around 125 RWHP stock. the 07-08 is under 120 stock.

Let's roll and see who comes out the other end of the canyon first! I've never ridden either the 1st or the 3rd gens but I can't see needing any more power in the turns then the '07 has. Experience and a good setup suspension can't be beat by 10 hp! When it comes to the magazines and the numbers they don't mean a thing in the real world ride. I'm dying to go for a real run through the canyons (GMR will do) and see what happens. And after that I'll be glad to eat my words if I lose. hehe :lol:

you would beat me in the canyon on a ninja 250 :lol: cuzz i suck as a canyon racer:rolleyes:. your 07 ZED is pretty trick. just think how fast it would be if it started life as a 2004:D:thumbsup:.

You can't compare if you have never rode a 07. Remenber my 07 runs 10.91 1/4 miles 7.00 1/8miles it was not slow.and roll on as a stock 10 I will and would bet 500.00 that my 07 will pull away from my 10 any day not waiting for 7,000 rpm's! The 07 could pull the front wheel at 2,500-3,000 in first just by giving it gas, sceond gear at 6,000 to 7,000 rpm's.Now on the other hand,when I get done with the 10 Im sure it will be the winner but not in stock fourm. once she broke in it will go to the track and I will post times :thumbsup:

added weight to the crankshaft [ vibration fix ?] smaller valves, smaller throttle bodies, changed cam profiles. that is a lot of changes to help mid range punch. i am sure a 07-08 with the usual mods is a great bike. i would pick one over the other bikes out their. i love the TACH on the 07-08. radial brakes etc. if i had a 07 i would be proud of it also. The 2010 is growing on me. If I had to trade back I would say NO!!!!

I now have 1,800 miles on the new z, I have removed the butter fly's and I have to say I was wrong the 2010 is a much better bike than the 07 by a mile. I was up on the blue ridge parkway Saturday, what a ride,then hit 221 south to SC 181 IF THERE WAS EVER A ROAD MADE IN HAVEN THIS IS IT ! SO SWEET. I think I will do the seat and wind shield before any mods this thing ROCKS! I did have to re-rout the throttle cables tho. :thumbsup:

Just paid mine off!!! It feels like a 2012 totally different feel when you have that title.

I am sure that the 2011 is better but it takes some time to get used to a bike so I think I am faster with my O7. if i go and buy a 2011 tomorrow I ll get the hand of it when they come out with the next one. I know my luck!! it took me 2 sets of tires to scrape pegs and get rid off my chx strips.....

Dudes, if you think there is a mile of difference between the 07 and the 2010 models, imagine how I felt - I went from the 2003 to the 2010 model!!! I was upset enough when I saw the 07 model come out with all the trick bits that I had to go source off a 636 and I was sad... Then I got this 2010 and the difference was 10 MILES!!

i just do not like the looks of the 2010, i do not hate it i just do not like it. i like pure naked bikes. the FZ1 is also a good bike. but that 1/2 fairing sucks. same with the old air cooled bandit S. i liked the 2003- 2006 ZED cuzz it was pretty much naked. i was just on my buds 2010 ZED. it is a great bike but not for me. if i had one i would strip it down to street fighter mode and maybe that would work for me.

The looks will grow on you. All jokes aside the 10 is so smooth the 07 had more bottom end but the 10 has more top end which makes it more fun, the rivs are higher which makes the bike more fun it just feels fast. I will admit I went in a little fast but I didn't know the road so on corners but this bike is so for giving. one ride wont make a difference if you own one more than a day you will say the same.
