Hi, a friend of mine with a Z1000R with low mileage is having problems with the bike not showing speed. The check engine light is also on. Is this immediately a speed sensor problem? Is there a reset to try if it is just an error? Thanks!

I'd unplug the speed sensor and plug it back in first, then get a code reader to see what the ecu is complaining about.

What year is the bike?
The bike is a 2018/19 model.

The errors are showing:

14- water level
24- speed sensor
27- unknown

Already pulled the sensor and put it back in, also filled up the coolant. Does it need to be reset? Codes cleared before it works again?

Head scratcher. I would've done what you did.

Sorry man, but I've got nuttin. Might talk to a dealership shop tech.
The errors are still showing. Any way to clear them? Should the errors be cleared before it works again? Yeah the shops are closed today and are far from our place so as much as possible we won't want to bring it there. Haha
