I have the same question Comfy?

Do you mean you had an accident or it was deliberate?

Now I know what my Proctologist sees ...

This is copied from a different thread but here goes (waiting for the wheelchair riding, finger pointing, keyboard tough guys to start their assault on my behaviour)

Correction; my Bike did 187-193mph.

Did some gear checks today & with the change in sprockets in second gear it does 72 mph at 7000 revs, 3rd gear I got to 90mph plus at 7000 revs & backed off.

Yes it changes the character of the bike slightly & it's not as exhilarating going from 1-70mph with the gear changes BUT I have 4 more gears to use & its so much easier to riide.

Info; from 15* & 43 on a late 2016 build I went to 16** & 41.

*supposedly 14 was stock.

*they said this was what they took off & I know the previous owner didnt modify it

**we were going to go 17 but even at 16 we had to remove the internal case guide behind the sprocket cover as it was scraping against the chain.

Maybe some of you tech guys would know the answers to the chain guide issue, it was the original chain

I admit, I never even noticed the Z1000 line up until the 2014 model arrived but was never really into 1 Liter Bikes.

I now look at first gen 03's onwards & think "WTF, I must have had my head up in my Ass.

Even smashed up on one side my Bike looks like what Mad Max would have cobbled together if he had the option.

If the World as we know it does start to fall off its Axis, I am glad I got into The Promised Land before the doors shut.

My near new 2016 Z1000 ABS in the Garage of the previous owner, in Florida. It only has 900 miles, I searched for a few months & anyone who puts a Hemorrhoid Donut on such a bike obviously isnt a rider - I thought this could be such a deal for $7500 but once I read about 4th Generation issues with 4th Gear I started to doubt my decision - bike arrives tomorrow & will be transformed within a week, time permitting ...
Hey doctor,
I have the same bike but in red and gray, what is the issue with the 4th gear? I am not aware of it I want to know please let me know
Thanks

Just did the sprocket upgrade, went 16 on front & 41 on the rear - it means you have to ride the bike differently to find the power but it is so much more comfortable everywhere, street or freeway.

Did something really stupid in hindsight - got the bike with two escorts, one to 155mph & the other to 165mph then hit 187 or 184.

Never, ever, again.

Ran out of Freeway on the 101, at 3am.
Doctor nice looking bike what brand sprockets you got? After you modified the exhaust did you do any changes to the computer?

There is links here somewhere if you just search "4th gear" where some people had issues with the 4th gear going

If you go to the search bar & put in "4th gear" you will find a lot of articles - as it was my bike never had any issues but it's also an end of year production model.

My mechanic, GEMINI MOTORSPORTS in Chatsworth outside LA has a manufacturer nearby that just happens to manufacture sprockets-dont know the name.

No I did not tune the bike - it already has way too much power for me. Plus Chris at IXIL said it wasnt necessary on a liter bike, simply installed a Servo Buddy $65 @Revzilla to remove any possible codes - physically removed all the Servo motor & parts. Bike runs fine, sounds like it looks - when you arrive at a bike store, meet, gathering everyone who is fawning over the Panigales & other Exotics almost en masse leave & walk over to my Bike - I dont have to say anything - at lights everyone rolls down the window & ask all the usual questions ...

The IXIL SX1 Exhaust sheds a lot of weight.

Cleans up the lines of your bike.

Take away the opportunity for you to ever burn yourself.

Sounds like a Volcano at idle.

Doesnt need a tune or flash or ecu.
