Hey Doc! New it looked like this, cept for the tail tidy and seat (first mods). Could see my shoulders really well in those mirrors! lol -Those were next to go.

In 2011 the silver parts were blacked out, which is what I went with. I still haven't replaced the rear silver piece. Sorta ties in with the polished Brawlers (exhaust) and front spoiler, thingy ...hmm forgot the name if it!

Great looking bike!

And even up until the 2016 model, ALL REVIEWS stated the Shoulders were in the way of the mirrors - as a manufacturer there was probably no way around the fact that the bike has a super comfortable upright & neutral riding position.

I have new mirrors for mine when it arrives & I think they are bar end mirrors only because it makes it easy to split traffic here in California.

Do not know if that is the new law in Oregon or anywhere else but it makes bike ownership that much sweeter in busy cities.

In my truck it used to take 90-92 minutes to get to a particular appt I had - on the bike 32-28 minutes.

With my new bike I did purchase a Screaming Banshee SHOCKWAVE HORN which is the loudest air horn available on the market.

https://screaming-banshee.com/

It has two horn sounds, a Friendly Beep.

But if you depress it for 0.15 seconds the noise that is produced is like an 18 Wheeler on their ***. Plus it has a feature where you wire it into your headlight & it flashes at the same time you depress the horn.

I also got a Blaster X integrated tail light from Custom LEDs which is really bright & has a Strobe Feature plus their Blinkers & a Blinker Genie.

I am not taking chances this time.

I agree and will have to get something more than the weak stock horn. I'm a believer about anything that adds to us being seen or heard.

No lane splitting here in OR. Could you imagine that being illegal in CA?! Crazy commute times bro.

Having never done any lane splitting, I would pucker each time I came along side of another car or go so slow that I'd end up ticking someone off!! I imagine most folk know about the law though.

My commute is all back roads anyway. Luv the power of the bike to pass in an instant, then right back down to speed limit ....well, close. :)

Ride safe Doc. Keep your head on a swivel and always believe that they don't see you.

-Rubber side down!

I will find out only when the bike arrives & gets in the Shop, hopefully Friday.

Initially the Denali is what I ordered, they have three models;

1. The Compact which replaces the stock horn but is louder.

2. An Integrated unit which is 120 decibels & is larger than the Screaming Banshee Shockwave.

3. And a Third version that is one unit but comes in two pieces so to enable placement.

AIR HORNS SHOULD BE MANDATORY EQUIPMENT ON MOTORCYCLES, our bicycle horns should be Banned.

I chose the Shockwave because it's the loudest unit out there & it has the added feature of the synchronized flashing of the headlights & its smaller than the Integrated Denali.

A little more money but this time back on a bike I decided to add anything & everything that would make me safer before I added anything to make me faster.

And I found the Screaming Banshee only by fluke looking for Reviews on the Denali.

Here is the Link to Installation & below at the bottom of the page is the Image Gallery - there are 3 Kawasaki owners on there & I believe, at least one Z1000.

It's a 2007 Z1000.

My near new 2016 Z1000 ABS in the Garage of the previous owner, in Florida. It only has 900 miles, I searched for a few months & anyone who puts a Hemorrhoid Donut on such a bike obviously isnt a rider - I thought this could be such a deal for $7500 but once I read about 4th Generation issues with 4th Gear I started to doubt my decision - bike arrives tomorrow & will be transformed within a week, time permitting ...

Wowser Doc! She looks great. Congrats
Just did the sprocket upgrade, went 16 on front & 41 on the rear - it means you have to ride the bike differently to find the power but it is so much more comfortable everywhere, street or freeway.

Did something really stupid in hindsight - got the bike with two escorts, one to 155mph & the other to 165mph then hit 187 or 184.

Never, ever, again.

Ran out of Freeway on the 101, at 3am.

wow! didn't know it'd go that fast. Yes, save that for the track.

I've seen 140 (once) and could've seen maybe 10 more ...maybe I'm just too chicken to hold'er wide open!

155 on mine, with a slight incline....reckon I had another 5 or 10mph left....standard gearing... Love to know more about " riding it differently..."

I've always likened the zeds gear ratios to an r6 but with litre power behind it...
