For some reason im not a fan off the two brothers. Dont know what it is.Check out the M4 GP Style slip-ons. I just ordered a pair....they are black with an aluminum "M4" badge on them.
Two Bros is making the carbon slip-ons (but to me, the days of big, long canisters is dead...)
Akropovic has some Ti slip-ons, and the craftsmanship looks incredible, but I didnt like how they looked mounted on the bike...or the price... They also have a four-into-one system, also over $1K in price. Ouch.
I have sent my pipes off for chroming after modifying the internals. Don’t be concerned about disconnecting the waist gate on the RH silencer as the general opinion is it run better (especially mid range) without it. If you like black pipes check out rodhor’s its awesome.I am wondering what aftermarket exhausts are available for the Z1000. I am interested in something a bit slimmer and louder than the current stock exhaust system.
Also, if it was blacked out or carbon that would be killer as well.
His bike looks so sleek. Really digging the black pipes. Does Kawasaki offer them in black or did he just do it himself?I have sent my pipes off for chroming after modifying the internals. Easy - they bought and installed a full 4-to-1 system. Akropovic has one for sale on their website - its going for around $1200... As for your question about losing power - uh, no. It increases power. Akro claims a 6-9HP gain and serious weight savings on installing a four-into-one system.I have a 2010. I have seen some pics of the 10' where they only had one exhaust. How did they do that. Also do you loose power when this is done. Who sells only one pipe for that year anyway.
What year Z1000 ? There are different options for different yearsI am wondering what aftermarket exhausts are available for the Z1000. I am interested in something a bit slimmer and louder than the current stock exhaust system.

Well, like Ive said, I put the M4s slip ons on my 2010, and I love the sound...just loud and throaty enough to make me grin and to set off car alarms as I drive past them. PERFECT! The bike kinda sounds like half of a V8 with glass pack mufflers on it. Im really digging the M4s. Very happy with these mufflers - and the price was awesome! $466!I just did a litle test on my 2010 Z.
I removed the factory silencers from the factory system.
The sound difference was not that significant!
My worry is for all those who spent or will spend big money on slip on's.
The sound your looking for probably will not be achieved with slip ons.
If you want the nature of the beast to be heard the only way to go is full system or hand fabbed after cutting out the pre-chamber under the the engine.
I myself have owened 12 plus bikes and only left one stock...86 suzuki gs 650 l model
went through a cruiser stage hate to admit it but was a great bike nonetheless.
Im rambling now so i'll get to the point!
The only system i've seen worth the cash is the akro system..EBAY..$1200...Fuel boxes run between $275---$350...Overall $1500 for 14 hp and a few lb of tourque!
To be honest i cant use all the factory power of this mighty Z.
But if you must make some more noise..dont get me wrong its a beautiful song!
Thats the way to go!!!!!
Just an opinion please dont hate.
I have the guts to admit that this is a formidable bike and i cant even use all the power this beast makes.
Im only getting 31mpg the way it is.. lets see a pipe and a fuel box mabye 25!
Its all in what you want i dont judge..Just ride safe and enjoy!!!!....PEACE
Awesome looking bike. but is that an original color of the bike, thought it only came in chestnut/valnut, orange/white and black/silver.I have sent my pipes off for chroming after modifying the internals. Lets say someone plans to do just that. Whats the cheapest and safest way to get the bike to run richer? Also not sure if this is a dumb question but is there something I can hookup to the bike that reads my AFR?I have a 10 Z1000 and did a little xperiment the other day.
I simply removed both stock silencers for that no exhaust look whatsoever and kinda liked the sound and the look!
But chose to bolt them back on"it only took 15 min".
I think the bike runs lean stock, and with the cans gone its probably runs dangerously lean.
Especially here in florida we've been seeing 100 plus degrees lately and im not willing to burn up my bike just to look and sound a little cooler.
So-Crates,
Do you know if that full system by akrapovic is street legal?
