Right folks I know this will have been done to death ,I have used the search function until my head is spinning so please bare with me :dontknow:
When I picked my z up a couple of weeks ago I was aware it had been standing for 6 mths unused so was kinda expecting a few problems and the main one is that when I wind her up she coughs ,splutters and hesitates then all of a sudden takes off kinda like the mains being blocked in a set of carbs .Ive got some spare time next week so my plan is to change the plugs ,check out the coils, pull the injectors and clean them out and generally have good luck at fuel line and breathers etc ,all welland good .Tonight I was in my garage and noticed my optimate was reading a weak battery now this is the first time Ive noticed this so I unplugged it gave it 10 seconds and plugged all back in and still the same now could a shagged battery be the cause of the hesitation do they need a certain voltage to run the injection system properly? ,she fires up and idles well and revs clean at a standstill .Im used to spannering Ive been building and restoring bikes for many many moons now but never delved into the black magic that is fuel injection  so any answers will be greatfully recieved many thanks folks :)

could be the battery. probably wouldnt hurt to0 run some sea foam or another good fuel injection cleaner threw it. the sm recommends changing the plugs every 7500 miles. i changed mine at 26k. they didnt really need it then.
Spoke to a mechanic at Kwak dealers today ,and he said bypass the clutch switch they are prone to problems with them which results in the ignition being cut as revs and vibration rise ,said he would put his shirt on it ,so had a spare hour today so did as he said and wahey he's right 85% of the problem has vanished still a bit fluffy off idle and at very high revs but Im hoping cleaning the injectors will sort that out ,hopefully my mind will rest tonight now lol
wow never figured the clutch sw. would do that. good info there thanks....
