John,

First I would like to thank you for your interest in Sargent Cycle Products!

We have not made it publicly official yet but we have just begun development on these two motorcycles. In fact, we just let the Ninja go back to the dealer yesterday.

I cannot issue a target date at this time because again, it has not been made officially public on our web site.

I hope you find this good news and please feel free to "let the cat out" to your fellow owners. We highly encourage you and them to write us and let us know they too are interested in these two models and will gladly like to hear all input on what kind of changes owners would like to see in a new replacement seat.

Keep in touch and as always.... ride safe!

Front & Rear saddles for
2009-2011 Kawasaki Z1000 & 2011 ZX 1000 Ninja are the same at Corbin: Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | Kawasaki Z1000 | 800-538-7035

I like my Corbin seat allot. It made all the difference in the world for me. I couldn't make 50 miles on the stock seat without a lot of pain (I've had 4 back surgeries) in the butt and lower back. Now that I have my Corbin I run tank to tank with little discomfort. Sure my Butt is sore at the end of a big day but it is a Z and not a touring/crusier that is built for comfort. But then that is why I bought a Z in the first place. Oh, and cuz they haul ***!

z1000 suspension/saddle

Underdog, did you replace your stock shock? I've got the Ninja 1k and the shock seems just a little harsh. I'd like more adjustability. I forgot to add that I have had three back surgeries, including 2x2 level fusions. And they are not happy when bumpiness occurs.

I didn't replace the stock shock. I found that after setting up the suspension correctly it works very well. My Z was setup very stiff when I bought it used. I weigh 190lbs and had to soften it up quite a bit to get the SAG where it belongs. Since then I've slowly adjusted it for my riding style and love it. I read about all these guys out there changing forks, shocks etc. but I can't see the need myself. Give me a good setup and a pair of real sticky tires and I'll learn to work with what I have. Which is much faster then I can ride or want to anyway. I you-tube'd suspension setups for the Z and bought a instructional DVD or two and went to it. Remember too stiff isn't good either. Most people think if they run it as stiff as possible they are great riders or they can go faster. Wrong! If your suspension doesn't soak up the bumps/cracks in the road you'll have to yourself, weither that be in the bars, butt or back you'll even have to change your riding style to compensate.
I hope this helps and doesn't confuse the issue.

Seat came in Friday and I put it on when I got home from work. I didn't get a chance to ride until this morning, and that was just 15 miles to work, not enough to say much. It feels slightly taller and kind of makes me sit a little further back than I was. Hopefully I'll have some time soon to ride longer and see how it feels.

Those of you who got the deal, good for you. I hope the seat works for you.

Me, after my experience with Sargent, both nine months ago, and today, I won't ever buy anything from them.

Nine months ago I bought a (barely used) Sargent Low seat for my Suzuki DR650. An hour after putting it on, it was off again and for sale. It was AWFUL. I went back to my Bill Mayer seat that came with the bike. I had tried switching to the Sargent to get a lower seat height, but it was so uncomfortable that my butt was sore in only 65 miles.

Fast forward to present-day. I had pre-registered for the release of the Z1000 seat. Since there was no commitment, I figured why not. But this was back in May, and I had totally forgotten about it.

I remembered this today while surfing another site, and realized I hadn't gotten the email with the discount code. So I called them up to see if they'd help me out. Instead, all I got was a, "we'll research this and call you back." And guess what? No callback. How f'ing long does it take to do a quick check of your database to see if I'm there or not? And if I'm not, it seems to me the right thing to do is to honor the discount anyway. Or at the VERY least, a call back and say sorry. Instead, nothing.

So Sargent, you guys can get bent. I don't want your f'ing seat. I made a ride-in appointment for the Bill Mayer factory next week, and they'll custom-make the seat to fit me perfectly.

I have no patience for companies with crap customer service.

What I need to know is will the Sarge make any difference in your comfort
levels, coz thats why you bought it right... if it looks the same feels the same
why do I need it... Not being offensive just giving some point of view.
I looked at the Corbin for the Z1 and I think it may be a better product.
However I cannot verify this as I dont have it..Its $350bucks AUD:screwy:

The shape of both seats (Sargent and Corbin) are both quite different. It's hard to tell from the photos, but the back part of the seat is wider, and the "sharp" (for lack of a better word) edges have been smoothed out. They also "fatten up" near the tank to help keep you from sliding forward.

If I HAD to pick Sargent or Corbin, I would take the Corbin. From the photos, I like the stitching better, the seating surface is real leather, and it's $20 cheaper than the Sargent.

I am new to this forum as you can see but I have had many different motorcycles over the years and just as many custom seats. My experience is that a Corbin although very well made is like sitting on a board. They are very hard and you are told to let it "break in" one of my Corbins I got from someone who outweighed me by over 100 pounds you would think it would have been broken in by him to at least suit me, Not. I have had Russell Day long and they were not what they are cracked up to be. I have had some replaced with gel and other wonder materials but I have to tell you that the 2 Sargent seats I have now one on a ZX14 and the other on a BKing are the best seats I have ever owned and I am very sensitive to my comfort so if I get a Ninja 1000 a Sargent seat will be first on my list. One more thing, you can go to most any motorcycle forum and search Corbin customer service and be ready to read hours of horror stories.
