Fellas, Im loving this bike! Only thing that bothered me was my butt. This is after two and a half hours in the saddle. Don't you love it when you go into a turn only to find someone has blown three inches of grass from their lawn into the road? Come on people! I think everyone should ride a motorcycle at least one day a week so we can get a little more consideration.

Here in my part of florida it seems like all the retire'ees think they have to water thier street to get thier grass to grow.

That's real nice! You get your bike all cleaned up, then you have to run through someones improperly adjusted sprinkler and its all dirty again.
Yea, I was at the gap over the 4th, riding the sky way, when I hit a horse turd and almost went down  scared the sh#t out of me too.

What in the world was a horse doing on the gap? Can you imagine hitting the horse instead of the turd? I hit someones Chiwawa last Sunday. poor little fella.
i did a solo ride to a popular so cal hang out sunday [ the rock store] 160 miles round trip. the Zed ran perfect . i spent 2 Hrs in the garage detailing her out after the ride. my butt did get a little sore on the way home . [ i am 64 years old]. the Z1000 is the best combo of pure sport bike looks and comfort. no other bike can replace my 2004 Z1000.
Except a 2011 maybe?
I've been drooling over that Candy green one at my dealer. Sweet bike they are!

i love SV 650s and 1000s .the naked one :D. they look and sound like a reliable Ducati. but better. i do not need a noisy dry clutch to make me happy.:eek:ccasion:
Preachin to the choir red naked sv.
I did 300+ miles yesterday on my 2010 Z1000. I installed a Corbin seat on the bike and it makes a huge difference. The stock seat is both soft with harsh angles in the foam. The Corbin is firm, but nicely contoured. I am 5'10 about 200 pounds, but the seat left me feeling strong after the long ride. Contact the guys at New Haven Power Sports in New Haven, CT for a great deal on the seat.
We burned 270 miles yesterday at the gap and the roads around it and what I find that I love is the gravel on the sides of the road that gets brought on my cars going off and snatching it back on.

Can anyone tell me: why does NC and TN have gravel on the shoulders of their roads? A asphalt stabilty issue or what?
Illinois has them as well......
I keep thinking about selling my Z1000 because I don't ride it enough, and it's not terribly comfortable. But then I ride it to work one day, and then rode it a second day in a row (this rarely happens). So I don't think I'll be selling it.

It does need a new seat, though. Hopefully in another month or two I can spring for another Bill Mayer seat for it. Since this is my third from them, they're giving me a discount. I just need to find the $$ for it, and being out of work for two months hasn't helped. And I need to get the footpegs lowered. My right leg starts to cramp up from the riding position after about an hour.

Has anybody here tried that windscreen the guy in Thailand or wherever made up? It's one of the better looking ones that looks to go higher than my Bart Simpson-ish Ermax.

Look up "Beartooth Highway" in the video section. I and my boy did a 14 hour round trip to Beartooth Pass. Talking about a pain in the *** :) It was a good trip though.
