ok so when i had my cbr 600 f4i i would hear a rattling noise when i shifted up sometimes...same on this bike. it feels like when i shift up i must be doing something wrong. i know its me and not the bike.. i shift up and i hear a rattling noise..if i give it gas it feels like its in neutral cuz its just revving up. then i kick it up and then it gets in gear. what the hell am i doing wrong??? not engaging the clutch all the way in or whats the deal??? like i said..i know its me NOT the bike. when i shift up properly everything is fine. any advice????

Is your bike new?
2010 zs r notorious for nothcey shifting for a while till the gear box smooths off the shift dog ends.
If you have under 600 or so miles give it a while, otherwise you might want to lower your shifter a little.
You might not be engaging the gears all the way.
I had to on mine even though it felt right.
Hope this helps,Barry

Sounds like a false neutral that you are finding...shifter is getting stuck between two gears. I used to hit a false neutral on my 03 model, but havent experienced it on the 2010...

Next time it happens, pull in the clutch, rev the motor slightly and downshift, then upshift again. Seemed to do the trick for me... Mostly happened between 2nd and 3rd gear, especially if I had rolled to a stop without downshifting out of 3rd, then tried to get it into 1st...
