I am wondering since I low sided my bike and nobody else was involved is it still a "collision" claim? I have read several threads online where people say it is comprehensive.

Also, I went to look at the bike yesterday and didnt see my guage pod. My boss may have it in his truck. But if not, what do I do about my odometer if I rebuild the bike?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt.

I live in Sweden so the rules may not be the same, but when I sided my bike a few weeks ago and nobody else was involved and I didn't get hurt. I just had to report it as a "single accident" 'cause I was the only one involved. I even talked to the police and the didn't want a report either when it was just me involved and only the bike was damaged.

But I have no idea how it works in the states. But it feels wrong to call it a "collision" the you didn't collide with anything...

Hope your okey and you can get the bike fixed fast!

I thought collision and comprehensive were the same thing. I have no idea about the odometer though....

Nope progressive says collision is a collision with another vehicle or object. Comprehensive covers theft, vandalism, collisions with animals, and natural disasters. In my mind my wreck should be comprehensive. See, progressive is trying to dismiss my claim, and Im trying to fight it.

Thanks

The bike was in motion is what my insurance company (AAA) says. So it is a moving accident covered by collision. I had a tire chunk tossed up by a truck take out the grill of my M3 and that too was covered under collision (but not my fault). A few months later I was egged and it ruined the paint, that was covered under comprehensive. 2 days later, someone backed into it and split, again it was called a collision, even though I wasn't in it! They did drop the $500 deductable and say it wasn't my fault but the rules have changed since I was a kid.
Let us know how it turns out.

Man, Ive got Progressive as well, and sometimes they piss me off. When my 03 got totalled, they tried to get prices for comparable bikes out of WI and PA! I live in the Bay Area of CA - I told them - "You come find a compareable bike in the Bay Area and I will take that pittance of an offer. Until then, screw you." Eventually, I had to bring them 6 months worth of Cycle Trader mags to prove my bike was worth more than the $3K they were trying to give me...

They will do ANYTHING to get out of paying a claim. That said, they are one of the cheapest insurance places I have found. Not even Gieco can come near what I get from Progressive...

If I remember, you low sided when you hit some debris in the road, right? RIGHT??? ;) Sounds like a collision to me.

'Nuff said there. I left Progressive b/c I don't believe they were looking out for my best interests after my claim when I hit a dog @ 60. I am with Country Financial now, and they do everything they can to save me money; including postdating policies, re doing policies after tickets fall off my record, and answering any questions I have straight away.

I have Progressive and only pay $630 for full coverage on my 07....after my high side last Aug. , they took care of me and my bike...$4000 total damage to the bike and over $3000 to me in medical.....Guess I'm the exception in this case, cause everyone I dealt with did all they could to help me....I even got a check for $1800 to cover all my add on's that got trashed....and had my bike back in 1 month.....nearly 10 months later I got a bill from a collection agency that radiology was sending to the wrong address....called up the woman that handled my claim....gave her my claim # and the amount of the bill and she covered it...no questions asked......I guess it's just who you deal with that counts

when i got my GREEN:D 2011 z1000 i got insurance with foremost. they were about $900 cheaper than progressive for full coverage a year. also got the gap ins. through the finance co.:p
Gap insurance is BS. Since when do we need insurance to cover our insurance??

I refuse to pay for gap coverage.

My Progressive full coverage for my 2010 is $730/year.

Is it bad I still have full coverage on my '03? I think I would still get something out of it rather than nothing.... but there is gonna be a cutoff point.
