I put a set on my old VTR100f (Superhawk)....the worst tyre I ever rode on !! Just horrible..no feel in the front end...makes for a bad play session...could not wait to wear em out ..which took forever FARK!! (i hated those tyres) ...I did 70 000 k's on that bike so many a tyre was used up & those IMO were only good for someone who rides their bike to & fro from work everyday & never sees a twisty road :)
My 2 cents worth :)

Are you sure they were the pilot road 2's?? they've only been out for 2 years. I know the regular pilot roads arent that great have been told the 2's are great in corners and super sticky

RICK you must have a turbo or super charger on that z for tires not to hold up. I run BT-023 ON MINE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, DRAG STRIP DEALS GAP HWY ALL GOOD PLUS 6,000 MILES A SET:rolleyes:

road 2's are an okay tire. There is now a road 3 out that is supposed to be even better. With that said I will not run them. I am to aggressive for those.
And on the Q2's I have noticed a huge safety problem. Read here
Who is Running Q2 tires???

Now personly I run standard Pilot Powers. Alot of people say "your not running 2ct's or pures!?!" Alot of people don't really understand compunds and the different tires. I get more grip than the 2ct's and the pures are a great tire but for the price difference I get more bang for the buck. Plus with the pures I have to change my rake and trail because they slow my turn in greatly.
This is me with regular pp's

bt016..best road tyre imo.

I really love the way these BT016's stick like glue, are very perdictable and have never let me down in a turn.

But they get crappy mileage, 2 sets and so far 1400 miles on the first rear, 3500 on the front and I've got 1500 on the 2nd rear and so far it looks OK. However, I've been working on tire management (good idea) and trying to save the rear I just roll through the corners faster and burn up the front! It is listed as a Ultra-Performance tire so it has to be soft to stick. When it comes to tires and extreme performance you will have to give up mileage to get a good sticky tire that won't let you down in a turn at any speed. Ya gotta pay to play!

I have Road 2's on my bike. I just put a new Road 2 on the rear today. The set had about 15K miles on them from what the previous owner said. I like the tire a lot but I am not incredibly aggressive on them.

I bought them again because I heard great things. I had a Bridgestone BT-016 and thought it was ok. decent mileage, handled good.

Thanks

Matt

:+1: Im much happier with 3500 klms of safe sticky riding than 6000 k's of crap tyres :)

My bike came with BT-016's and as you've said, they're a nice tire as far as performance. I've only got 1200 mi on my bike so I don't know yet how long they're going to last.

If the life isn't good enough I'm going with BT-023's. I've read it's a similar feeling tire with some tradeoff in grip for the longer life. Maybe it's worth a try.

It still slays me, the front PR2's tread pattern; it looks like you put the tire on backwards! Other than that not a bad tire. I have them on my Z1K, but I still think my Shinko's gripped better. These PR2's you can put more miles on, but they seem to spin when taking off hard in a straight line. I was hoping to eliminate some of that with a more expensive tire.

I Just put on a set of Pirelli Angels, super tires. I have about 1500 k on them, superb handling. The bike feels so much more stable around any turn, very confidence inspiring. With stock tires, she was stil spinning on the 2-3 shift, not now. I have read some reports of people getting between 8-9000 k's of wear. The stock tires were pretty much done around 6500, we will see.
