the last reason to pick a motorcycle is from reading road tests. most staff riders in sport bike mags are ex racers. they see a bike threw the eyes of racing. fine if you are testing the latest race bikes.
threw the eyes of bike mags my 2004 Z 1000 handles poorly, has so so breaks and has very bad mid range power. o and it vibrates like a harley.:p
sure glad i bought my FAV motorcycle of all time before i read about it in a mag. i just ride i do not race

Motorcyclist did a long term test report on the first gen Z as well as some modifications to it. They did a lot of updates and loved it and said the hardest part was going to be giving the bike back.

2004 Kawasaki Z1000 - Motorcycle USA

If you do a search on their site, you'll come up with at least five or six update reviews that they did on it when they had it.

Not all are bad.

Reading mag reviews, watching on line videos, and finally test riding was what got me interested in the 2010 z1K. However I would never buy a bike based 100% on what someone else thinks. Shoot my last bike was a buell and you know what most people think of those bikes! LOL

I read every review that I could find when narrowing down my choice list before I purchased the Zed ....it was between the Cb1000r & Z1000 (I have alway been a Honda girl ) ....then it was on stats, then on looks...finally test riding, but that only confirmed what I had already read :)
I pick the bike that will best suit the job I want her for....the Zed wins hands down over the Honda !
So Im a yes to reviews..but lots of them from all countries :)

I'll have the buck the trend here. I did months of research on what I intended to buy. All types of media. Narrowed it down to two bikes without having ridden anything, Street Triple R and Z1000. Obviously I had a pretty good idea what type of bike I wanted so it made the choice a little easier.

I'd have to say 95% of what's been said about 2010/11 Z1000 in all the media I've read rings pretty true. (in a good way)

End of the day, still didn't finalise anything 'till I'd ridden it though.
