I have a black 2011 ninja 1000 and want to get Canadian Z1000SX green bodywork for it. The prices set by Kawi for the Canadians is over double what we in the USA pay!, what gives?, do they have an import tariff?. I really feel for my northern brothers.

Apparently, its some import tax. I sold my stock pipes to a site member in Canada, and he had to pay some ridiculous amount - and that was with me agreeing to assist by putting on the documentation that they were only worth $100...

I bought a 2007 Black OEM rear cowl from Canada since I couldn't find one in the USA and they were discontinued from Kawi. The USA price at my dealer was $85+ tax and it was $249 US to my door from Canada! And the shipping was higher then we pay also. Now that is what I call a rape! It just isn't right. The same darn part from the same manufacture. I even checked out the UK and it was the same as Canada with even more shipping costs added. I forgot to add for the exchange rate of the good old US dollar too.
Of course now I've seen a couple used on this forum for a whole lot less.
I've been communicating with a guy in Australia (private party) who has a set of 2007 black rims and the shipping from there to the states is $198 economy and $238 express! I'm not sure I'll buy them because other then the $600+ there might be US customs charges added at this end. Does anybody know if Customs will be adding to the bill?

Canada's population is 34 million and the American population is 310 million.

It's not just bikes that we get screwed on, almost everything is a lot more expensive in Canada compared to American prices. The list price on my Camaro was $45,000 but the same car was just over $36,000 in The States, the real kick in the teeth is that all the new Camaros are built in Canada 100 miles from my house. :dontknow:

Luckily for me I live 10 minutes from the border so I like to shop over there and I have all my car/bike parts shipped to the UPS store and bring them over the border myself. :D

I sold gear to a Canadian who rents a US address behind a cellular store in Port Huron, MI.
He, too, crosses over to collect his bounty in the US as well.

Ya it really sucks for everything up here.

we are paying $1.45 / L gas in Montreal. do the math, that is $5.78$ / G.

there are more people in the state of New York, then there is in all of Canada... kinda crazy if you think about it.
