I'm wondering if the new Ninja 1000 gauge cluster would plug right into the gauge connector of the new Z1000?

You can get a third-party temp gauge.

Thats true, just wish kawi would have added a these from the factory. But even if we had these extra mods we would still have to find something to complain about! Just wouldn't be as easy.

Damn, the only thing I hate about the new Z is that gauge cluster!

Me too - kinda cheesy! Makes me think I am riding a DR-Z 400.

I have been going back and forth between the Z1000 and NINJA 1000.

There's no denying that the NINJA 1000 is a better buy for the money.
It's 1 gallon larger gas tank, and better-looking set of gauges appealed to me.
On the other hand, the Z1000's motocross-style bar and aggressive looks are sweet.

However, I may have come across a possible 'deciding factor.'
The NINJA 1000 (on average) will cost me an additional $600-700.00 annually to insure.
...And that's with the bike paid off and no collision coverage and no uninsured motorist coverage!

Ideally, I want a Z1000 with the NINJA 1000's tank and gauges.
I realize the placement of the ignition key is different between the 2 bikes.

im sure you can get a koso gauge cluster mounted on there fairly easy. probably a kit for it even. id try emailing koso directly.
