Hoping someone can offer some advice. I picked up my new 2011 Z yesterday and put 250 miles on her today. Everytime I go to start the bike it seems to catch but then immediately dies. I hit the starter a second time and she fires right up. I also had a friend try it and he experienced the same thing.

I don't want to bring the bike into a dealer to have it looked at since it's riding season and, so far, the bike will start on the second try every time.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Its just a characteristic of the bike...you have to hold the starter down for a few more second than other bikes. You will hear it seem to catch..revs drop & then it fires...keep starter held to 2nd catch :0)

Thanks guys. Makes me feel better to know that it's just a quirk. I'll try bumping the idle a little too.

Mine does the same thing so I just end up holding the start button a little longer(about a second total). May try adjusting the idel.

My '03 does the same, but I lowered the idle awhile back
