I just bought my first Z last night. I have had many many bikes. I love this bike. IMO is a great kept secrete. Also new to this forum.
My question is What is some of the common things that everyone is doing to improve the bike. It really don't need much to improve bit would like to catch up on the good info on it. Plus I noticed there really isn't many threads or post on here. Is this a really new forum? I mean the admin has only 13 post?
Hope to meet alot of good people on here and learn more on this great bike.
Here's a peak of my new toy 2005 Z1000 With shortened Two brothers dual exhaust. Which sounds amazing!

What do you all think? What needs done?

A lot of guys swap the stock suspension components for Ninja 636 parts. This is a pretty new forum. One that has been around for a while is riderforums.com. I'm a member on both.

The Z is a great secret. All the performance one could possibly use on public roads, responsibly and then some. It gets tons of look cause most people don't know what the hell it is and the insurance is cheaper due to it not being a supersport. Btw, Welcome to the forum!
Thanks bigsexyZ. The 636 suspension parts does that put me back to clipons?
Also does anyone know where to get a GEL seat for these bikes? Or a more comfortable seat. I have to say that is one of the bad things about this bike is the seat.
No clipons necessary. Put the forks in the stock triple clamps so it leaves the risers for the stock bars. Corbin makes a seat for them, I hated mine at first too but have gotten used to it. There is a huge sticky thread on riderforums.com for it. would post the link but don't want to get in trouble on here.
I joined that forum as well. But i can't post yet on there!?! oh well. I don't see why you would get in trouble for posting links to other sites? Is that in the rules?
eh, what the hell. here ya go! http://riderforums.com/showthread.php?t=29227&highlight=636+fork+swap

there might be a corbin for sale on there. might do a search for it.
Ooooooooohhhhhhhh, I'm telling on you. :D

Just dont make a habit of it ;)

Hhaha...dam you shogun. I got busted!!!

You got it, Stew.
^lol Thanks for the info. It will be a help. Which should be why we are here?
I don't see the harm in it. As long as we are supporting this site. Oh well. Didn't mean to get you in trouble. See now I am the trouble maker! lol

oh well here's something to laugh at anyway!

I think a thread needs to be started with some fail/motivational posters as such^^^^
Good Idea. I will get right on that! I have a few
nice bike dude... i got my 03 z last friday. what else could you possibly do to that bike?? looks pretty much hooked up already.. i have the muzzy exhaust and it sounds killer as well... are those rizoma turn signals?? i have them on mine and those things are awesomeeeeee...also what kind of bar end mirrors do u have?? maybe you could get a corbin??
shock of all shocks, ny 2004 ZED will pretty much stay stock. those 4 pipes are growing on me. small turn sigs and a tail tidy will do it for me. even that stock seat is fine.

I am not sure about the turns they were on there when I bought them. I like them as well. Although I just bought a clear LED tail/turn light the other night. Sound be in any day now. ($30 shipped) The bar end mirrors were also ebay specials $10. lol On the corbin, I really haven't found too many Corbins that were comfortable? They tend to get hard after a while.
