I bought a 2004 Z1000 today with only 6500 miles. It didnt come with a service or owners manual. How do I remove the seat?

I am also looking for mirror suggestions. The bike didn't have any.

I don't have a specific picture of the exact location but on the left side of the bike (facing the rear of the bike), look below under the tail and on the very left side there is a key slot. Stick the key in there and turn it. This will release whatever you have mounted up being either your passenger seat or cowl. From there, look down by the seat and you will find a 10mm bolt and small bracket. Once you take that bolt out and remove the bracket, you can then pop the seat off.

Regarding mirrors, pretty much anything will work that is of size M10-1.25x25mm, right hand threaded. A lot of people also run bar end mirrors as well. Check out the picture thread here to get some ideas.

Thanks, I found the owners manual under there. woot
Now to get busy ordering and gathering the various missing bolts, mirrors, service manual, clutch lever, sae connector and an oil change should get me on my way.

Looks black to me with a red seat.
