hey all! finally got activated. the name is jeff as you can tell, lol. ill be going in the next week or so to get my z1000. 2006 blue, with a few nice mods. zx9r header with muzzy can, -1 in front, pods, and pcIII tuned. gonna do either the zx10r or 636 rear shock swap, and possibly the zx9r flywheel. has some nice rizoma bits, a memory foam seat, and zero gravity screen. i get the pleasure of riding deals gap and all the great east tn roads whenever i feel. we also have a great core of riders, and we have a ton of fun always.
here is a crappy pic of my zed along with curties white zed. just picked it up tonight.

Welcome to the forum. I'm going for an Ohlins shock myself. Under $1000 for the Z, set up for your weight, and the best money can buy. Did the previous owner do the pods? Did he dyno tune it with them? I've been thinking about pods myself... wondering if it's worth it or not.

yes p/o did the pods and tune. im still gonna dyno tune here at a local shop just for my peace of mind. Curtie223 on here has the pods also, and has the secondaries removed and likes it a lot. im gonna pull the secondaries also if its not already done before i retune it.

But not more power then. Hell, I'd just get a 1/4 turn throttle then.;) Still considering pods though, just not sure about the gains vs losses. Usually the airboxes are set up to resonate I thought, so removing the airbox would give you hypothetically 5 hp, but cost you 3 foot lbs of torque. Something like that at least.

like said above, the removal of the secondaries gets rid of that little bit of hesitation when you first crack the throttle. doubt there is any hp gain from it but if it smoother throttle response then i may just do it.

Yeah, maybe it's worth it. I just don't think there's that much lag in the throttle to justify it for me. I rip around like I stole the thing, and the throttle seems good enough.
It is worth it, very simple to do plus makes a big difference, better throttle control. Only draw back is instance wheelies
