Hey, can you give me some feedback on how you like the new windscreen? My 2011 ninja 1000 is throwing the wind underneath my helmet (and i have a quiet rated helment - shoei qwest). Is the cockpit much more quiet? I upgraded my windscreen on my ninja 250 awhile back with the mid-level double-bubble but it didn't make the bike much more quiet. Thanks!

here is what I wrote in one of the other windshield threads:
I bought the Calsci touring windshield for my Ninja 1000 and am quite happy with it. I was mainly after helmet noise reduction. In the high position it is very quiet, like a cruiser. At 5'9" the top of the windshield is about chin high. The wind stays at the top of my helmet or above. I wear an open face helmet with face shield. The windshield is thinner than stock and if you like the retro Italian sport bike look with fairing and tall windshield it looks great!! I happen to like that look

not to hate on anyone, but: windshield = wimpshield

IMHO the really tall thing is not flattering to the bikes appearance

+1 on everything you said!

Sometimes, when Im droning along at 80+mph, I think a taller screen might be nice....but then I realize that it would completely trash the look of the bike. And, Id rather that I love the aggressive look of my bike than being comfortable :)

also when its 90+ degrees out do you really want less air hitting your body? My father doesn't ride his GW on hot days like that because he will sweat to death.

My Concours was a furnace when it was above 90 and that bike had a lower than stock Rifle shield. Imagine setting your oven to 450 and sitting in front of it with the door open. That was it! I hated riding it in town in the summer.

Can't say I like the look of the super freaking tall version either. All I know is the stock windscreen is worthless in all 3 positions.

I wonder what the medium CalSci is like in form and function. Would be a "LD touring only" screen for me.

My first thought was, wow, that would make me ride to Vegas more than fly. My second thought was, wow, that thing is ugly, third thought, I bet it could be changed back to stock in under a minute, next? I don't care what other people think, after that? My 2010 Z looks like a Japaniese transformer toy anyway, so how much would this really change it, lastly? I would get one.

I have a Cal Spec embarasment barn door for my 2010 Z1000 that I put on if I need to work in LA (long ride), or go up north to see the folks (longer ride).

Yes it sucks when I need to look at it, but at mile 300, I don't care.

Damn, and I thought mine was tall
matt that windscreen looks good. zero gravity? how does it help with the wind at triple digit speed? that blue is an awesome color on the first gen. zs :+1:eek:nly thing i would change is paint the radiator, side, & frame covers black to really set it off.
