is 125HP enough power REALLY.
their was a time when i thought 100 HP was a lot.in the 1980s ama super bikes made maybe 140 HP.
i have been on most of the newer killer bikes BUSA,B KING, 09 V MAX and ZX14. yes they all are very impressive. how much more fun are they . for me very little. a stock Z 1000 will get you over 100 MPH in the blink of a eye. if i am rolling down the FWY doing 65 and down shift to say 4th gear it takes maybe 3 seconds to win a trip to jail if i got caught. you just cant stay on the gas on a hyper bike very long. i have never in my life been 150 MPH on a motorcycle, and never want to. what is the point. i put a full MUZZY on my 04 to save 30 LBS, look good and sound good. not so it would be faster. 125 HP is a lot already.
yes i am a older guy, and sound like it. i do still like performance though.that is why my victory sits and i ride the ZED all the time.:D

I love how our motors have such great midrange torque. I don't want a bike motor that I have to wind the piss out of to get to the power.

When I had my ER6-n and was used to it, then got my DR650, the ER6-n felt like I had to wind it to get to the power, compared to the DR. That's kinda funny since the ER had about 62 hp at the wheel compared to maybe 40 at the wheel on the DR650. But the DR has a ton of torque down low.

Now that I have the Z1000, it's just as torquey down low as the DR, just way moreso. Twitch your wrist and you're going at least Warp 2. I love it.

Coming from a hopped up GSXR that I felt had too much power. This bike has usable power. And I loved that fact of it. Although When I got it it wasn't long before I put Pods, PCIII, and removed the secondaries. Now I am looking for the zx10 Throttle bodies, ZX9r header, ZX9r flywheel, and 636 forks and rear shock. lol

I love my Z, but.... I do have a nonhealthy relationship with massive HP bikes. My GSXR1k has 155, dosen't sound like more, but, damn, it is a whole nother world on the street and track.

to choose between the to, I take the Z, and sometimes the KLR650, but when I do get a chance to drop the hammer on the Suz, it changes my love of riding to pure lust.

Yep, I'm an older dude too. I've been riding since 1966 and have ridden a ton of different bikes. The Z fills my needs perfectly. I don't need all the power I have on tap currently; no reason for any more. Absolutely love my 06.

54 and have never owned a bike i didn't mess with. addiction i guess. supposed to get my pipe before jan 15 or may just get my money back and save for akropovic. will not use slipons on this bike. do like the black stock pipes on the 2011's. would consider them if i can't get a full system. and no 125 is not enough for me. but then again i'm not right.:eek::eek:

i am such a nut when it comes to pampering mechanical stuff. i do enjoy using the power, i feel guilty running the bike hard just for the hell of it. i am in the auto repair trade. i see so much neglect out their. all mechanical parts have a life span, beat on it and you will use up parts much faster. i am very fussy. whomever buys my used stuff is a very lucky person. he he

Just can 't get enough, addicted to the power of my Z1000. Almost every chance I get the throttle is on full boil. Yes, she comes up in the air in first & second, scary @ first, but now I love it. I had the opportunity to go at it with an '08 Busa, he didn't get by me until we were touching 215 k's, in the mid-range I took him again, but he then slowly reeled me in. Lots of fun.
