I Just need to vent As some know I was buying a ninja 1000 all ready had it financed every thing when, I called about changing my Bike over to the ninja when they informed me it would be a 1,600.00 difference. i said what the fubk are you crazy!!!! Turns out Kawasaki made the ninja 1000 a ZX1000G there for it is categorize as a high performance sport bike. But the ZR1000 is street oriented so the Insurance is only 134.00 more dollars a year than my 07 ZR1000 I am so piste that it taint funny. So i Said to self i'm not getting the ninja thats out F it so the sales man said would you like a another model bike,so I said yes I'll take Rick's bike the black & silver 2010 Z1000 for 8,988.00 cool sat there 3 hours waiting on paper work.one problem, I live in Rome,GA I am in SC MY finance Company is in Rome So long story short . I really didn't get the bike I wanted and I have to wait till to marrow to get the new bike. Some times life sucks. So I will be at the Z1000 meet on a 2010 Black & silver Z1000:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Wow, that's really strange that they categorize the Ninja 1k and not the standard Z1 a sport bike. To me, the Ninja is a lot of more a touring bike, so if they were going to classify one as high performance bike, it would be the more speedy oriented Z1000 SF for sure.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's kind of late to ask this but, did you call around to some other companies just to get a few more quotes for kicks and giggles? I do know what it's like though to purchase a vehicle, then call the insurance company only to find out that it's going to be some outrageous amount more than what you were already paying for your previous vehicle, or simply just were not expecting to pay. Definitely a heart sinking feeling. After learning that lesson, I now try and make it more of a point to call my insurance company as well as others to get a quote on the said vehicle before I make my final decision even though I really hate to have to think that insurance would deviate me from buying what I want though.

Anyway, the bike that you bought is awesome! The new Z is a very cool bike that you will I'm sure love to ride, Ninja 1000 or not.:)

If you go on the Kawasaki web site the Ninja 1000 is under the super sport category, The Z1000 is under sport, what gives :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

This reminds me of when I insured my '76 280Z. The insurance company considered it a muscle car! Can you believe that!? It's a sports car for crying out loud. A Mustang, Camaro, Charger etc etc with a v8 is a muscle car, definitely not a vintage Japenese sports car with an inline six.

Uhh .. no. Both the Z1000 and the Ninja 1000 are under the "Sport" category. Besides, you got the better bike at the end of the day.

Sport category includes 250R, Versys, ER6N, 650R, Z1000, Ninja 1000

Super Sport category includes only the "ZX" Models (ZX6R, ZX10R, ZX14)

Super Sport touring category includes only the Concours 14

There is nothing worse than not getting the bike you wanted.... If I were you, Id try calling around for other quotes before giving up on the Ninja. Dont settle for something less if you dont want it - not that Im saying that the Z1K is "less" of a bike - thats the bike I have, and I love it! But, if that bike wasnt available at the time, I would not have bought something else instead...this is what I wanted.

Buyer's remorse sucks, bro. Id look for other quotes before I gave up. And, think of it this way - you learned a valuable lesson! First thing you should have done was called the insurance co and asked how much this upgrade was going to cost you...
If it makes you feel any better, I didnt bother asking my company either - and I went out and bought the bike. THEN I called and was shocked that I had to pony up another $1000/year for insurance. Oh well!! You have to pay to play!

Go luck bro.

i like my Z1000 but if i was changing bikes it would be the ninja 1000. i did a demo ride on and liked it very much. my friend has a 2010 Z 1000 which is a great bike also, but it is a lot like my 2004 Z 1000. riding the ninja 1000 was a lot of fun . i felt i could ride it harder than the Z1000. loved the riding position. very sporty but comfy. if you already had a Z1000 you will regret not getting the ninja. I THINK

all i know is i did the kawasaki ticket to ride on a ninja 1000 and the leader did a very fast pace. the bike in front of me was on a ZX10. i did not think we were going to ride that fast. i had a lot of bikes behind me so i stepped it up. the bike really felt good. i am sure the new Z 1000 can do just as good :dontknow:

Thanks Guys for the love but I did settle and bought the 2010 Z1000 here she is View attachment 37576 :eek:ccasion:
It might have been good to call around a little about insurance but you didn't get a bad bike in any way. You sure didn't settle.

There's not enough difference between the bikes to matter as far as performance. The Ninja just has marginally better fairing protection.
