Finally got to give the new z some throttle and twisty roads. As I had the morning off, I figured that with 200 or so miles on her, I would take her out on the back roads of NH and get a taste of what she can do. First I have to say I bought the right bike! This thing i just crazy fun. We did some smooth to rough roads with good clean straights and some great turns. The Z performed great. Even over the bumps at the factory suspension setting (I'm 250 pounds). Even over the stutter bumps on some of the roads, not even a hiccup! The power is right there, no matter what gear. This bike is just awesome!! I think I'm in love.

Just my two cents, for what its worth.

Cheers

I did 150 miles on Sunday.

40 of those miles were highway miles. The other 110 were twisties!!!

Im in love too. And my wife actually approves of this love affair...at least she knows Im not out getting myself into OTHER trouble!

The best part - smoking the sport bikers who think they are fast. Nothing like passing a guy in a race crouch while Im sitting upright and comfortable...and beating them to the rest stop, then watch them all crowd around it and look at it wondering what the hell it is.

I really do love this bike!

Hey So-crates,

Yeh, it's a georgous bike. I got mine a week or so ago and I'm in love, big time.

Wracked up about 800 miles in a about 10 days.

Just wish the petrol tank was a little larger ... obviously without detracting from the style of it. :)

Naked bikes are a big thing here in the UK, but I hear they're not quite as popular in the US. Maybe the z will change that?

You liking the black colour?

I kinda like that they arent super popular here. I have a bike that nobody else has.... Everone else is riding full faired 600's, 1000's, or a Haybus. I like being the 'different' one.

Hey Imanc,

Ive actually got the white/orange model - which I absolutely love. Something about white bikes...just looks awesome - although I also love the look of a completely blacked out bike as well...

Yeah, I dont know why naked bikes arent popular here...other than most people's obsession with race bikes...maybe thats why they arent popular. But, like others have said, I actually like it that its not popular here, as that makes me stand out.

Yeah, Im an attention *****!

Congrats on your ride ZedNH! :eek:ccasion:

I got mine 4 weeks ago tomorrow and just got the title in the mail today! Only about 310 miles on it because the weather here in Connecticut has been as bad as your weather - although I was able to ride it to work 4 out of 5 days this week.

I'm also having a love affair with this bike. I've been telling everyone that it's an absolute dream bike! It's fast, comfortable, and sporty-looking. In fact, it's more than sporty looking - it's unique and futuristic. And I don't think I've ever been blown away by factory paint as I am with the candy lime green paint on this bike. Simply stunning!

I'm in the minority, but I don't think the bike *needs* any mods at all -- for me it's plenty fast as is. I even like the look of the fat stubby black mufflers and love the sound that comes out of them. That said, I did swap the stock levers for a pair of adjustable black Pazzo knockoffs (made by Ride It) because I have small-ish hands and the non-adjustable clutch was a reach. I also swapped the stock wind screen with a Kawasaki accessory wind deflector for a little more wind protection. The only other "mod" I am considering is a Ventura sport-rack.

I mostly use the bike for commuting to work (a 6-mile ride from the suburb into a small city), weekend errands, and short-trip pleasure riding with friends. For that, it's just an awesome, amazing, fun bike.

Thanks,

Ive had mine about four weeks and I too only have around 350 miles on it. The weather has not cooperated at all. It doesn't look any better for the next week either.

The only things I have changed thus far is the mufflers. I do plan to change the windscreen to the kawi accessory screen as well as getting rid of the rear fender. I haven't decided on the targa or evotech. Im gonna add the rear seat cowl, levers, bar ends, and maybe a few other touches.

I agree with you. I don't think the engine needs and mods as It is just a blast to ride the way it is. My main ride is a big cruiser bagger so everytime I get on the Z its feels crazy fast already.

How do you like the windscreen?

I really do love this bike!

This is exactly why I bought my Zed! I just LOVE blowing away lots of those young guys on those crotch rockets all laid out and hanging off the bike. While I sit upright making it look SO easy!

Just the other day 4 bikes show up in front of me as we headed into the canyon. It took me a mile to figure out I wasn't going to have any fun following so off I went. It took less then a mile to pass the first two, one zx6r and gsxr 1000. Then another mile to pass the third on a gsxr 1000 and he could ride! The last guy was on a Ducuti Monster 796 all decked out with the aftermarket goodies so it was hard to even tell what it was. Obviously the faster of the other riders for sure. He was quite a way ahead by now and so it took a while for me to catch him just as we came to the turn out. Bummer! I know I could have got him in a minute or two but ran out of road. I love this bike! But I did donate the better half of my front tire doing it.:headshake:

And just like you said, we spent the next half hour crowded around my Z answering all their questions about the bike. :D

Thanks,

I like it. It's only 1.5 inches taller than the stock deflector, but it curves upward so it works. The wind doesn't hit me square in the chest anymore. Now I feel it around my shoulders. No weird buffeting around the helmet either.

Looks-wise, I like it because it's small enough that it doesn't take away from the naked look. The color is the same as the stock deflector and it has a similar shape at the bottom, plus it says "Kawasaki" on it, so if you didn't know better you'd think it was the stock screen.

Lastly, you can swap the stock screen back on in about 5 minutes in case you only wanted to use it for cold weather or highway trips. So there's no downside really, except that it costs $129. :) But if your dealer is like mine, he'll give you 15% off because you bought the bike there...
