How long does your stock rear dunlop tire last? I only have 1,800 miles on mine and its to the wear bars! I do like to open up the throttle a lot though.

I've got about 2,600 miles on my rear and its close to needing replacement.
2000 miles til it's time for a new one for me.
I love everthing about the Dunlop Sportmax except the mileage, so Im about to put a Dunlop Roadsmart on rear. I'll update on how it performs compared to the Sportmax.
Im hoping I can get the same performance with the added bonus of more mileage.

I went 5200 but that was stretching it! I commute so I went for a good sport touring tire... a BT-021..gonna see how that lasts. Have about a thousand on that one and looks good so far. Handles the rain OK too!
I just changed mine today..... Original tire lasted 5294 miles......
hey quick, any corners up there. been in parts of kansas don't remember any turning.
i get at least 10,000 miles out of a tire. you guys are animals.
he he he
i would think your dr lic would be gone before the tire.
The stock Dunlops on the '10s are ridiculously soft. Great for really aggressive riding, but I think they're overkill for the street. I think the next tires that I'll try will be aBridgestone BT-023 set.
ordered my shinko 009 ravens last night. worked well on rex had 7000 on rear when i traded. needed replaced. had 9000 on front still looked good. not as sticky as these, but i don't ride that hard, yet. will keep you posted. front tire the same rear 200/50-17.

10000miles?? is it the stock tires that you have? its hard to see the stock ones lasting any more than 3500 miles and thats really pushing it.

Tried to get the 23's they were out so I got the 21's..so far so good!:D
hey wolf, just got back from a 300mile run to missouri. up 125 arcoss peel ferry. rode with a cbr100rr again this weekend (honest, different one also.) this guy lives in mtn. view. ran a a good pace not a pucker pace but pretty good. halfway through ride looked at tires. rear isn't gonna make 2000 miles. front may. surely these things are defective. i don't ride that hard barely keep up with older riders on crotch rockets. two one day rides with cbrs and the tires are toast. friend was feeling both tires while waiting to cross lake. mine was way hotter than his. couldn't leave your hand on mine , his was barely hot. my new tires won't be here til tuesday or wednesday. don't think i'll be able to ride monday. looks like maybe 200 miles or less left on rear. this is not good.
6 rear tires and 3 front tires in 10,000 miles, though not on a z1000.
what bike? used to get 4500 to 5500 on my modded rex. three less rear wheel hp on the rex on the same dyno with the same operator very similar weather. these tires won't go on this bike again.

If you were asking me, zx14.
I don't know if the tires are defective so much as they're insanely soft. Anywhere I park my bike in the garage has a bit of a black imprint of the tire. As such, there are tire marks everywhere. Compare that to a Pilot Power on my last bike - which would have gone 7-8k miles - which never left such a mark. It might as well be a track tire.
hey mo, now that's some power. if i was bigger i'd have one. i've read posts of guys using shinko raven009's on zx14's and getting 5000 miles. hard to believe. i got over 7000 on myzrx before i traded it in. no burn outs. just power wheelies once in a while. well often.

IDK if I believe that....I didn't think anything over 3,000 was possible LMAO!!!! I think IF you can ride conservative enough you could get several miles....I, however, cannot.:D
usually i can't either. but my grandson just started riding his new 09 250 ninja, so i should be ok most of the time. also just spent all my savings on full mzzy, PCv, filter and tires. won't be able to afford anything for a while.
