about the 2003 Z 1000 mentioned. a lot of wonderful motorcycles have been slammed by motorcycle mags [ b king] and turds have been gushed over. maybe the gen1 z 1ooo had short comings if you pushed it real hard. i have owned my 2004 for over a year now and it is the most wonderful motorcycle i have owned in 40 years of riding. its limits are higher than my riding ability. screw motorcycle mags.

Hell yeah, I am not enough of a trackstar to outride the 2003 Z1K I have now.... So I can't complain. Its sooooooo easy to ride; I don't even have to think about what I am doing half the time. That is not the case on my 1977 KZ1000, at all!

There is a 2010 Left over white and tangerine waiting for me.
The Black/green is what I tested and is gorgeous but it means getting a 2011 which I can't afford.

I wasn't expressing my opinion, that was a fact.

I'm sure you can reach the limits of your bike on a track after an hour or so.
High speed tank slappers are expected from a naked bike, Walt Fulton Jr took it too far, got scared and scared a lot of readers.

lots of true sport bikes have tank slappers, so one tester can make or break a bike ?. what he should have said is this is a wonderful performing street bike , not a racing bike. if you want to have a great sport bike that you can ride without beating your body up you cant go wrong on a 03 Z 1000.
would cruised magazine test a GSXr 1000 and say what a bad commuter bike the GSXr is. dont buy one it sucks. most of us that buy a naked ,sit up bike understand it does not have the race suspension or 120 MPH wind protection. a steering dampener prolly will solve a tank slapper problem if you want to push the ZED to a higher level. all i know is in the canyon my 04 ZED is a fantastic performer at my ability limit. it makes the ZRX i used to own[ and loved] feel like a tuna boat compared to my Z 1000.

How bout that v-maxx huh!!!!! Thats my next bike no doubt. Also that happens to all of us when we sit on anything less than a z 1000 everything feels either too heavy or slow. About the shaking I'm getting a steering damper for sure. Happy you made the right choice and went with the z1000(no offense to the ninja 1000 owners but that bike is confused).lol
Ride safe:eek:ccasion:.Agree about the Mother Theresa comment 100%.

Great bike!!! It's just awesome ... wish I can get one like this someday! :)

Just curious ... how much did you pay for this? And ... how much does it cost to get a brand new Z1K from the dealership? Coz the prices here in Bulgaria are sky-high ..

I can't tell you how much it was (It was a good deal).
A new 2011 one is $10,999.

Mine is a new 2010 left-over, It was a very good price but adding on the fees of buying new :headshake: - I think this is the last time I'll buy a new bike.

You can always find a good, barely used second hand one.

I am asking because the Z1000 before yours ( the one 2007 - 2009) here in Bulgaria comes for 18 700.00 USD so ... it's quite expensive to buy a new bike here. However, I do agree that there good second hand bike, like mine :p , but still ... :)

Nevermind ... once again - welcome, you bought yourself a great machine. I wish you thousands of miles full of positive moments and emotions! :)
