Hey all. I’ve been in search of a full aftermarket header system for my Z but I’m getting nowhere. I’m starting to think I may have to go to a 4-n-1 because I’m just not having luck finding a 4-n-2 stainless steel or titanium header.
So I have 2 questions.

Who makes a bolt on 4-n-2 exhaust for a 2005 Z1000?
What bolt on options are there to switch to a 4-n-1 header? I’ve always heard that a zx9 was close, but I need to hear from someone that has done it themselves.

Pickings for the first gen are scarce, best to find an ebay unit if / when they show up.

SoloMoto has some stuff from Arrow

I just have the oem system myself
Thx Jim. I shaved a ton of weight taking the gun barrels off, I’d love to shave the rest by switching out the headers and collector. I’ll keep searching. May have to find someone that can custom fabricate them

I've fitted zx9 headers to my first gen Z. It's very cheap but takes some work. It gives the bike a smooth sound and can be made to look as sexy as an aftermarket system if you're willing to do all the sanding/polishing.

Arrow is the last company to still make new headers, and absolutely, positively nobody is selling 4-2 aftermarket headers anymore, not even second-hand. I've been on the lookout for years and occasionally see used Muzzy, Leovince, or Akra 4-1's on ebay.

2000-2003 zx9 headers, stock or aftermarket, bolt directly on. There is conflicting information on which years can clear the rear shock. I bought the "correct" year and still ran into the rear linkage even after flipping the dog bone bolts around.

All you need is to cut the end of the collector short enough to weld a bent or angled piece on to clear the rear shock, and then make a custom link pipe to whatever muffler you choose. I can definitely add pictures and specifics if you're still interested.
