Hi All,

Longtime lurker, decided to join... as the previous owner of a ZX-9R that I put nearly 60K miles I'm thinking about buying the Z1000 and wanted to be able to research some of the things going on with bike via the community... ya know, to get the "real story"!

For a second there, I was getting happy - thought there was finally another Z owner in my area....well, close to my area, anyway... I swear Im the only new Z I see around the Bay Area...a couple of 2003 models in the City, but few and far between...

Anyway, ask away! What do you want to know about them??

I can tell you this much - Ive been riding Kawi's since I had a 1995 ZX7, then a 1996 ZX7RR homologation special. This is the 6th Kawi Ive owned, and is by far the BEST too. LOVE this bike!!

hi i like the 03-06 Z1000 the most others like the newer one. the 03-06 Z 1000 uses a punched out ZX9R engine. i love my 2004 Z 1000 very much. i also love Monerey. been their many times. i did my basic at fort ord back in 1967. i feel my Z1000 is 100 % sport bike but all day comfortable. i am 64 years old and ride my Z1000 a lot.

I'll tell ya I have ridden a lot of bikes in my day. I rode mostly cruisers because I was afraid I'd get myself killed on a sport bike(my wrist locks in the back position).
Back in March I decided I might have enough sense now so I bought the Zed Thou.
I need new tires already my friends ask me how I got them slick from one side to the other...It handles great!!
Pulled away from my nephew on his ZX-6 in the twisties because he was breaking loose and it felt like I wasn't even pushing the bike.
From what I have read and researched there are lots of ways to pull way more power out of it too!

In short....GET ONE!!!

Thanks everybody!

(Notabiker, you are giving me something to aspire to @ 64!)

I'm a big fan of the 2010-11 Z1000, I'm liking the upright UJM riding position (the sportbikes are starting to cause me pain as the older I get the far less willing my joints are to comply to the folds and bends required), the aggressive looks, and from what I've read the motor sounds like it'll fit the bill for a fun bike.... I don't have particular questions now, but now that I've joined I'll ask as I cruise along.
