I picked up my new (to me) 06Z with 5124 miles on it. I'm a big ole boy so I've tweaked it a bit to make it more comfortable for my ole arthritic wrists and shoulders. I've been riding a Vulcan 1600 for the last 6 yrs so the Z will take a little getting used to. I've been just blown away with how smooth, civilized and torquey the boy is . . . until . . . I finally opened it up this week. Glad I had a change of drawers back at the house!! Dern, once the tach passes 5000 it's like . . . well I don't know what and won't post here what I screamed inside my helmet! I will say, though, that the drawer change was painless because of the huge grin on my face for the rest of the day. I love it!!!!

for most of my riding a am ok without TONS of mid range power from my 04. if i need it i just down shift and get the tach to 7,000 and hang on. i put about 60 miles on a 07 ZX14 with the secondary throttle blade removal mod and it came on so hard it was not fun to ride. would i like the down low power of the 2010 in my 04 [ sure] is it important to me NO. my 04 is still a light 1,000 cc bike. it is plenty fast at all times.

i've never road an older z, but my rex spoiled me. i like my power right now. most times my bike only sees high rpm in 1st and 2nd after that it's cruising time.
i had my 02 ZRX on a dyno one time. not for tuning. i just wanted to see how the A/F ratio was. with a MUZZY slip. it was almost perfect. i wish i had my print out. what a beautyful power curve. not a blip in it. yes the ZRX has lots of power right up to 9,000 rpm. it made 117 RWHP without jetting.
