When I replaced my cable it was pretty straight forward, I didn't fully remove my tank, I just removed the bolt down by the seat and propped up the tank. I was able to duct tape the new cable to the end of the old cable and it just pulled right thru. My cable wasn't snapped tho.

Tank removal is easy. Remove the bolt under the seat, lift the rear of the tank up (if I remember, you have to remove the cross member that the gas tank was bolted to...) and slide the tank back towards the rear of the bike - and its off. Gas line is an easy quick-disconnect... Sometimes, when reinstalling the tank, those rubber mounts fall off - I just glued mine back to the frame to prevent that from happening..

Good luck bro!

I love it when a plan comes together!
