Hi folks,

I am posting this in the normal Z1000 mods as I assume this applies to the 2011 Z1000 as well.

As you know, trunk space on the Z1000 / Ninja 1000 is minimal. There is enough room for the stock tool kit and a cigar.

Directly under the seat it what I am assuming is the California-only Evaporative Emission Control System, AKA the charcoal canister.

Kawasaki has seen the aesthetic light and hidden it from view, but is taking up rather valuable space that would be better suited for a PCV or something more useful.

Out of curiosity, maybe you 49-staters can tell us whats in its place.

Anyway, it seems to me that to simply connect the 2 hoses that travel to the box marked 16164 in the fiche below would allow the removal.

Any input/feedback would be greatly appreciated. :eek:ccasion:

I'll toss a comment out there. I know nothing about the charcoal canister removal but agree the Z could use a little trunk space!
Notabiker has a mechanical background maybe he can shed light on this subject for you.

Thanks for the feedback, maddog.

In other circles, they call it a canisterectomy, namely because it resides on the outside of the bike and resembles a cylinder.

I am curious though, do have a late model Z1000? If so, does it have what I described?

Thanks.

:+1: on that comment!

I dont htink its as easy as just removing it - I think you need to do something with both those loose ends, like block them off with a golf tee (just jam it in the ends of the tubes...)
