Hi. I am carrying out valve clearance checking at 16000 miles on my 2003 Z1000. I've found that all exhaust valves are slightly tight. I was hoping to just remove the exhaust camshaft but--My question is ---Once I've removed the cam chain tensioner, must I remove the inlet camshaft first in order to create cam chain slack to remove the exhaust camshaft ?. I think that this is the case but please could you confirm. Thanks.

i pulled both cams on my 2011z. not much more time/work from where you are. just tie up the cct chain and mark the chain and gears with good marker pen. i just scratched the chain and gears slightly with a sharp screwdriver to help line them up for re-assembly.
