I just installed a semi hidious part on my 2010 Z1k. I'm 6'3 at 188, so this semi review could be bius.

Check it out first.

The stock screen is great in city speeds, very nice on the freeway with no head winds, in fact, most times I feel like there is a screen deflecting wind I can't see.

With the CA Sience tech screen installed, it got much better, the slight/drastic wind blast turned into something I haven't felt in many years (my Z is my 15th bike in 25 years), buffeting, not bad, but something I now of from riding older bikes and friends bikes.

The screen has a distance, about an inch and a half (yes allot), from the dash to the plastic, this gives it a good amount of anti buffeting flow, welcomed by me. I think riders 6 foot or under would find this screen much better than I did. I loved it, but being 6'3 has many downfalls, this is one of them.

The biggest plus for me with this screen is it's sub-10 minute sawap. seriously, I can go from urban cowboy, street fighter wanna be, super street nut job into law abiding, tax paying, Tour Master wearing (I do have that suit also) rider.

And that is this screens biggest draw. It makes the Z a convertable ride, something I can love fighting the urban super slab, but also love dooing the micro-touring trip.

So, it gets a Zoid thumbs up, ease of install, feature laden featues, quazi-tolerable looks and a price to function leverage that makes it add to the Z's already street/freeway usability a plus.

Good mod, but with an asticic downside.

I also have the windscreen on my Z. It worked great (I'm right at '6' foot tall) but did you have trouble with vibration at higher speeds? maybe I screwed it down with to much tork.

Well....even though it looks like the Pope Hat....I could see it on my 07 for my trip to Louisville Ky. this April.( Going to Thunder Over Louisville and take pics of the largest fireworks show in the U.S.) I bet it really cuts down on fatigue caused by wind blast!

Yes it does. At first 200-300 mile days were not easy now with the tall windscreen i've done a 700 mile day. It is definetly fuctional

Too bad it's not set up like the Concours 14 with electrical adjustment for height....maybe even make a sectional one that telescopes. You could have it on the fly then....just hold a button and go from sporty to touring just like that lol

I have the California Scientific Windscreen and it's definitely a functional windscreen at high speeds and blocking wind. I would say this windscreen is more functional than fashionable. This has been my choice during the winter month. During the summer, I switched it back to the OEM windscreen.

However, the windscreen is rubbing against the brake reservoir. I've made several adjustments and brought the bars slightly forward. But the windscreen flexes and slightly vibrates against the reservoir still. That would be my only big complaint.

So we all admit it is ugly but highly functional. The wind is a pain on the Z for sure. I was looking for a screen and came accross this one for $120 here in the states.

Barracuda Moto- Catalog Products- AEROSPORT WINDSHIELD

Does anybody have one? Does it work or is it still too short to help?

I have the CalSci screen, too. In fact, that's my 07 Z1000 on the CalSci web site. I went there to have it fitted; CalSci hadn't done any 07-09s and needed mine to figure out how to mount the 2010 screen. Nice guys; a father-and-son operation; small.

I tested the screen to 95 mph that morning. I'm very happy with it. Use it in the colder months when it gets down into the 50s here in the SF Bay Area (brrrrrrrr!). :p

I was worried about the stress on the 4 mounting holes at high speeds, so I velcoed a block of rubber to the back of the screen. It's lined up with the top edge of the instrument pod. I've had no problems.
