Just purchased my 2010 Z1000 and was hoping for some suggestions on cleaning products everyone is using on the tank, plastics, rims, screens, exposed engine parts etc. There are so many diffenent materials used on the bike and dont want to wreck the paint work.

Cheers

i never wash my bike, my bike looks better than new. i mostly use furniture polish, pledge or motorcycle spray can universal polish. sometimes you need a little GAS on a rag to get grime or chain lube off the frame. you can put pledge on every part of your bike and wipe it off. i even use it on my seat. look at the gallery .the pic will show you how cleen my bike is. i live in so cal so we do not get road salt or bugs on our bikes out here. it helps. if you ride in a lot of rain it is hard to keep the bike nice. i do not use expensive polishing products. i like J wax in a can on my paint sometimes.

I just wash with a normal auto wash & chamois off. Looks great!
Although yesterday I did polish with Meguires "Wet Look".
FYI don't get any polish on the black outs near the tank (or the seat) even by accident.
It's a bugga to get off!! :(

I always felt if it's nice enough to stand around cleaning my bike, then it's nice enough to ride my bike.

For the rare times I actually do clean my bike I usually just use a bucket of warm water and a soft cloth.

A few years ago Meguiars sent me a motorcycle cleaning kit with about 7-8 things in it to check out. The stuff works great and if I was someone who spent more time cleaning my bikes I would definitely purchase and use their products.
