Howdy all!

My gsxr750 is really starting to tick me off... I am this close > < to selling it and finally getting a '10 Z1000. Unfortunately I'll probably have to wait until next year and get a leftover (if there are any). I haven't seen any used ones for sale yet. No surprise there. lol

Anyone in the southeast US got one for sale??

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. If I have to get a new one, I will. It would just take me a little longer to come up with the extra money. I don't want to get into another bike payment if I don't have to.

get a 03-08 used one. after all the magazine HYPE you will find a nice used one will fit the bill just fine. lots of clean low millage z 1000s out their. my 04 is just as fast as the new one/ 125 plus RWHP. same weight. i have been on a new 2010 and it was nice . i like the looks of the 04 way better. no extra un needed plastic.

How do the older ones handle though? The thing I liked most about the '10 is that it feels just like a sportbike with Helibars. I dont want to have to dump a small fortune into the suspension to make it handle as well or better than my gsxr.

I say wait, the 2010s are coming on the market, I got mine in the OC (south of LA) about 2 months ago for 8k (us). I sold my Superduke 990 to get it and am super happy with it. I rode the 03 and loved the power, but not the frame and suspension. I'm in the same boat as you Acalliste, I have my 03 Gsxr 1k (march wheels, ohlins front elka rear and more) up for sale because of this new ride. I love it.

I also went from 123hp to 134 (dynoed at RCal Racing) without a map or K&N yet since K&N is still in developement, I figure I'll end up with just shy of 140 with plenty of torque.

Go ride one then decide what you think...I can usually find an older Z1000 on craigslist.

Ride an older one? Not sure where I would do that, and sellers usually want the asking price as cash in hand in order to ride what they are selling. I really am not interested enough in an older one to bother. They look badass I will admit, but it takes a little more than that to make me happy. :p

I already did a 150 mile demo ride on the '10 Z1000 (see avatar). That's why I know I'd be happy with it.

Nice pics, that pipe looks very nice. Changes the look of the bike a lot.

You got a '10 for 8k? That's not bad at all, and if I could get that kind of deal, it would make things a lot easier. I am hoping to get about $7k for my gsxr. I could come up with the rest easily enough.

Honestly, I am not concerned with getting max HP out of the Z. I want it to run right, do everything it's supposed to do, and not be a money pit. That's about it. lol

I have a Yosh RS-55 slip-on, a PCIII, mapped and dyno-tuned, K&N filter, ASV levers, Vortex rear sets and clip-ons on my 750, blah blah blah. It doesn't make me love the bike any more. It was just money spent. Maybe I am getting old, but I really just want a fun, good-looking, well-handling, dependable bike with enough power to keep the adrenaline flowing. :)

Is that too much to ask?

It was just a suggestion while you wait. You might find the 03 to be just as sporty as the 10 for less $$$. And it looks badass!

Yeah possibly. I only remember riding with one guy recently who has an older model. Maybe he will let me take his for a spin.

I really can't imagine being happy with an older standard after two newer GSXRs in a row. But you never know. ;-)

Thanks! :)

I dont need any more coaxing, and I learned pretty much all I need to know in the press ride presentation & subsequent ride. The only obstacle between me & a new Z1k is the dreaded bike payment. :(

And my insurance would go up about $200 a year, according to the quote I got a month or so ago.

So, I am going to wait and see what happens. Hopefully I will be able to get a better deal & the insurance will come down a bit when it's no longer a current year model.
