You cut the left side air box panel out....Then when your doing about 7k rpmz you hold your hand near the cover and that helps double the air flow into the carbs...Amazing....But sucks when you have to wave to oncoming bikers....

Gotta be an easier way to get more consistent higher flow

if you do this mod you need to get a PC and it would be a good idea to get a dyno tune to check the A/F ratio. it will pick up around 5 HP . how bad do you want 5 HP. i love my 04 with only a full muzzy and no problems. the demon in my head to screw up a wonderful motorcycle has not made me do this. if you have the money for a PC and dyno tune and you want to do it DO IT.

I did the air box mod on my 07 and I am wondering why I waited so long to do it in the first place. On my bike the danger of water in the air box is no greater with the mod and I was able to feel the power increase on the first ride after the mod.

My front lifted up easier after the mod when I rolled it out in 1st.

I put on DanMoto slip on exhaust, it made me run rich, I did the air box mod, it leaned me back out. I am saving for a PC III but it is running great now in the meantime.

Think of it this way....a replacement stock air box is like $35....do the mod and if you want to go back just buy the stocker. I have a feeling you won't go back.
