i have owned my 04 for about 3 months now. it is stone stock. i have read everything possible about what this engine likes mod wise. a lot of folks rag on the 03-06 exhaust system, well a huge kawa tuner [ ivans] did a dyno compairson between a muzzi 4-2-1 and it only made 1 HP over stock.i am thinking of doing the air box lid mod [ about 4 HP] and leaving the stock exhaust on the bike. i get lots of compliments on how nice the 4 pipes look. the sound is a little on the quiet side but the tone is nice. my openion the air box lid mod will work just fine without putting the 4-1 exhaust on.
yes i understand to maximize the bike i need the air box lid mod and a PC111 with a good pipe. but i can do the air box mod for free. i doubt the stock exhaust is really holding back the gains from the lid mod.

Well.......I don't know about the 1hp gain. What other mods was he doing as well. The motor can only put out what it takes in! So if you change the exhaust without changing air flow (increasing it) you will not get much of a change. I personally are putting air pods with PC3 together with my 4 to 2 Two brothers exhaust. Not sure how much it will help mine. But when I get all that done. (within the next few weeks) I am going to do a dyno pull on it and post the results on it here.
well i was going to do the air box lid mod saterday. thank you kawasaki you put a very ridged 1 inch thick wiring harness right over the lid. i do not like to force things. that harness would not move. next time i will remove the fuel tank and move whatever i need to to do it. my hart was not into tackling it saterday. i went for a nice ride.
I replaced the stock silencers with a pair of Two Bros. Slip-ons. I added a PCIII. I have yet to Mod the Air box, but am planning that task very soon. The 1st Gen. stock silencers have catalytic converters in them so I can't imagine how they would flow as free as after market cans. I personally didn't like the look of the stockers, so I went with what appealed to me. They are a bit loud now, but they sound great.

i am not in love with the stock 04 mufflers. but i sure get a lot of compliments on how they look. it seems to me that more folks like them than folks that do not.
The stockers are unique, but they just don't do it for me personally. I like the oval aluminum canisters From Two Bros, so thats what I went with. Thats what nice about all the accessories you can get for these things, its easy to make it your own.
