Does anyone here have an aftermarket windscreen, and if so.... What kind, did you notice a big difference with the wind, would you recommend getting an aftermarket windscreen to someone still rockin the stock screen??

Thanks in advance!!

Hey, Quick. I don't have a screen so I can't comment directly, but I can give you the informal recommendation to:

1. Browse the forums.
2. Use the search feature.

There are a few threads out there already on this.

You beat me to it. This topic has been covered at least 3 times already just this past week alone. Quick, we're not trying to be rude or anything but having to answer the same question over and over again gets very tiring for people here.
Well.....

I did look at the other posts, but I didn't find the exact answer I was looking for...... but I guess I should have been a little more specific with my question..... I MAINLY want to know if adding an aftermarket screen was worth it. My friend has an FZ1 with an aftermarket screen, and after riding it, it was actually worse that what my bike was. The wind seemed to hit me DIRECTLY in the face on his bike.... I am not "unhappy" with my bike the way it is right now, I just wanted to know if adding the screen was worth it, before spending the money on it. I don't care as much about a specific brand.... I just wanted to know if anyone would recommend an aftermarket screen, or if it would be better to just stick with what was on it. I don't want to spend the money so I can get the wind off of my chest, just to have it beat up my face..... I like the Zero Gravity and Puig screens that I have seen, but I don't want to get t unless it is going to make a big difference.....
seemed harse to me. thoght i was back on the zrx forum. ha! ha! just kidding. sometimes communcating is a problem. rick:D:D:D
I was thinking the same thing.... I thought the whole point of these forums was to post information...... I didn't mean to sound like I hadn't done my research..... I have looked extensively on the subject, I just figured a group of fellow Zed 1 riders would be more than happy to hook a brother up!! I didn't expect the old "use the search" gag..... No big deal, I'm not sweating it.... Just glad to be a part of a message board again.... I really do love my bike and being able to talk to other people about it is sweet. I haven't seen another Z1000 in town, so finding other people to talk to locally is difficult....
been riding on and off nearly 40 years, hgave always had a soft spot for kawasaki's. like being different, also like being comfotable. did i mention like going fast. had 2 rexes loved them both.was on and off thay forum at different times, they can get really harsh. haven't seen that here yet. hope i don't theseseem like a great bunch here.as for the 2010 z, this bike feels a lot lighter than it actually is and handles better than rex. rex is more comfortable but a little too big and heavy for me.( 5'6".) this bike fits well and with a little work will be a better all around bike for me. as for the wind shield, i only use one in the winter. i like the wind. rick:D:D:D
If you're familiar with the old "use the search" routine, then you had to be expecting it from your message. :D

Sorry if it came off as rude. The point of suggesting searching for and utilizing existing threads is simple: you'll find people who own the products already and you can directly ask them in a thread that they're paying attention to. Not only does it help get your answer more quickly, it reduces the number of topics and makes future reference easier. It's not just a matter of people not liking talking about the same thing over and over, some folks just won't look at another thread on a topic that they feel like they've already discussed.

Just tryin' to help! I'm sure I'll be looking at windscreens eventually - gotta get this beast paid off, first!
peanut butter and jelly man, that's how i do it. a man has to get his perogatives straight. still trying to figure out how to get muzzy full, k&n and pcv before next month. could take on second job, but that would cut into my riding time. ha!ha! rick:D:D:D
Well, I am sure that any question I may feel like asking has already been asked at one point or another....... Oh well, guess I will have to search more before asking questions...... As far as my question goes, I guess I will just have to buy one and figure it out for myself...... I just hope it isn't a giant waste of money..... I don't mind the wind, most of the time, but here in Kansas it can get brutal from time to time...... Thanks for getting me to the search engine though..... In the future, I just have to hope that someone else wanted to know the exact thing I wanted to know......
Quick, you have an important question that I'd like to see answered. I've seen many threads across three different forums on windscreens and most of what the owners talk about is looks. This forum isn't old enough to be Encyclopedia Zed, so there are countless unanswered questions. Ask away! If possible, ask within an existing discussion, because it keeps things consolidated and grabs the attention of people already invested in that discussion. If you're opening a new topic that has been discussed before, do your best to differentiate your topic in both subject and description. I say this to help you get what you want, because I want the same thing.

Motorcycle.com's recent "Odd-Ball Sport Touring" Comparison article talked about the Laminar Lip screen for the '10 Z. You can find the article here: 2010 Oddball Sport-Touring Shootout: Ducati Multistrada vs Honda VFR1200F vs Kawasaki Z1000 - Motorcycle.com

Of course, if you have the cash to go test all options, don't let me stop you! :D

I think I will wait till it is a little colder before I actually get one, I guess right now i am leaning towards the Zero Gravity screen..... I'm not TOO worried about looks, I am more worried about function..... I hear ya about keeping it in threads on the same topic.... I just figured by posting a new question, I might get a little more exposure..... Guess I'm being a forum *****..... Hehehehe.... Thanks for the input, and once I do decide to get a screen I will be sure to give you the lowdown.....
I ordered an Ermax screen, it should be shipping by the end of the week. Of all the screens I found online, it was the best looking, while being tall enough to actually do some good.

As for search vs. post, this place is too new to start harassing people about that. That's just my opinion, and is ultimately the choice of the site owner. But if you start harping on people to search, people are going to be afraid to ever post, and this place will die, or just forever be slow.

So if you see a post that's been covered before, how about being nice... either answer the question, provide some links to previous threads, or just stay quiet about it. Just IMO.

Yes it is worth the money. I have the factory one from Kawasaki its bigger and works great, if the wind hit you in the face you can shim the wind shield with small washers. you have to get creative:cool: 2007 Z1000
