The mags keep referring to our engine as an earlier version of the Kawi 10R engine. What year 10R??

I believe thats it new from the ground up meaning motor and chasis. I also had a dealer tell me that the engine was a detuned 10r. Didn't bother to correct him just grinned a little bit. From my experience salesman dont know jack about the products there trying to sale.

The capacity should be the giveaway. 1,043cc doesn't match anything in Kawasaki's lineup.

I wasnt aware that the 998cc ZX10R had a 1043cc motor in it...

Someone doesnt know what they are talking about. Mags or salespeople...which is freaking SAD.

And it was a 953-cc same as the 07

As they all said .. completely new motor .. designed specifically for the Z1000 and Ninja 1000. The new ZX-10R has a different motor than ours.

It will still be nothing alike.
the 2010/11 motor has a longer stoke for better midrange power, that's where the extra cc's went.
when you bore an existing motor you keep the same length stroke with wider pistons.

I don't even know if there are crank swaps for bikes that make them a stroker...... like the 350 chevy's w/ a 400 crank.
