I've had my Z for about a month now and have noticed increasingly whenever I grip the tank/fairing on the right side particularly when braking or cornering (I'm guessing more leg pressure), I'm getting a high pitched buzzing sound. The buzz goes away as soon as I relax my right leg.

I've attempted padding out the black plastic panel on the right side above the frame rail, where I believe the buzz is coming from and while it seemed to minimise the buzz, it hasn't entirely rectified the problem.

I was wondering whether anyone else has come across this and knows exactly where the buzz originates from(Assuming it's common). I'm 90% sure it's from this plastic panel, but I've almost exhausted all the points where it could come from with isolation foam to no avail.

Update. Pulled all the fairings off including front light assembly. Found the first buzz in the plastic tank piece where it joins the tank. Found another vibration through the Honeycomb fixtures at the front. Padded those out to find the same 5-6K Buzz from the other thread. ZzzZzz.

Fun times.

My 2010z also had that buzzing. Finally ended up taking off the front plastic cover buy the ignition and retightening. Buzz finally gone! I also played with the windscreen by installing a puig racing screen on over the top of it.

Yeah. Got rid of all the other fairing buzzes only to find the same "Tinny" buzz everyone else gets at 4-5K rpm.

Even with all the plastics removed (I don't condone riding with no lights or indicators), every time I grip the tank with my legs, same buzz is back. I will defeat my Z's bees!

Speaking of that black panel, how does it come off? Do you have to remove the faring?

I want to install a Powerlet socket in the panel, if I can, for my heated liner.

Yeah, you need to remove the front fairing with the indicator assembly. 3 bolts
Then remove the rider seat, 2 bolts under the pillion seat.

Then you're left with two hex heads for that black panel.

There's not much room under that panel, enough to run some wiring, but that's about it.

I got the buzzing too....But all my Kawiz Ive owned have all had a 60mph vibration buzz....For what its worth you know your speed when you feel or hear the buzz..
Yes, and I know what the noise is, and that it is not a malfunction; because then I would be worried.

The buzzing is coming from the instrument cluster. Just take of the windscreeen and use a couple of black zip ties and tie the base of the cluster to a solid part of the bike preferably a bolt hole, problem solved. I just traded my white and orange 2010 z1000 towards a lime green 2011. This is one of my favorite bikes of all times and I have had a lot.

Just for the record, I've found the Buzzing from the fairings. It was a cable clip underneath the tank and when I put pressure on the tank from one side in particular it would cause it to buzz against the underside of the tank.
