I am still breaking in my new Ninja 1K and notice what sounds like light pinging/detonation when the throttle is first cracked. I had a bud that is a very good m/c tech at the Kawi dealer take it for a spin, he said it is the exhaust valve rattling, super common he says. Ever hear of this?:dontknow:

I know almost everyone with a z or n1K has a slight rattle or buzz.

this is a sound that you normally get if you run cheap gas, but just when you first crack the throttle under load.

I've noticed mine does it too. I just thought it was pinging a bit. Usually only when I give it stick out of first or second at lower RPM.

Run with 90 + octane.

Mine's getting better as I put miles on it but it still pings sometimes even with 93+ octane fuel.

I run mine on 98 RON, (94 AKI) not sure what scale you guys use in the states, but it's the highest available in Australia. I still get pinging in lower RPM. Granted, I've only got 3000km's on mine though.

Hi I just mine from the dealer last Friday, only have 30 miles but I noticed the same thing sometimes, have you found a fix?

After putting about 800miles on the bike it went away. Even if i have to stop along a ride and put a lower octane fuel in as some stations down here dont offer 90+, the sound has not returned.
