and was able to locate some leaking around the thermostat housing I think. I will have to dig deeper to find out. Just turned 1000 miles today. A bummer for a new bike!
I know...but if it's something I can take care of myself...
I will generally do it. Especially with a new bike. I'm generally more careful with parts removal, torque specs etc than a dealership mechanic that's got 10 bikes sitting in front of him to get fixed. That's just me.

read about a guy with a 2010 z1000 with the same situation (leaking thermostat housing). FROM THE FACTORY they use some sort of tape or epoxy to hold the ring in place for installation. That is ****e!
