Just bought a 06 z1000. Only had 1400 miles on it. 2 days ago I rode home from work and had 0 issues, next morning I had these problems:
-runs rough, almost like on 3 cylinders
-won't idle
-runs rich as hell. U can smell it coming from the exhausts, I have a headache from the fumes
- changed plugs, bike idles kindof but rpms fluctuate from 900 up to 2k with 0 throttle application. At that point I shut if off and will be taking it back in to the dealer on Tuesday.

Bike is 100% stock, only run premium fuel in it. Ran great ever since I got it.
Had to lower the idle to the specified 1100-1150 as it was idleing at 1400 when I bought it.

My guess is a sensor is going or went out. What do u all think?

So given the two options u suggested, would it be fair to single out the Tps specifically due to the constant fluctuation in idle speeds?

I could be wrong but I couldn't imagine the coolant sensor causing crazy idle speeds but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

Also, how would I test either one?
Thank u sooo much for the quick reply!!

I know that in cars, the coolant sensor lets the ECM know when to richen and lean mixture....I would also check if the battery is weak.....if it's below 12 volts the bike will still run but the fuel pump cant keep up and the ECM will be effected as well....causing the engine to be sporadic :2cents:

I'll check the battery tomorrow just incase but it has absolutely no trouble turning over, and doesn't sound weak at all. It is labeled 5-7-2007 for when it was replaced so I'll check into that. Really appreciate the help guys!

I just gotta figure out how to test the Tps And coolant sensor now

not common, just bad luck. how is it free on a 06
One- it's a manufacture defect and they said that even though it's an 06, it only has around 1500 miles so it's basically just barely broken in.

Two- This is the third bike I've bought from them so they treat me pretty good.

Hopefully the ecu shows up soon. I only own the Z and it's annoying having to walk everywhere and more annoying asking for rides.

Grrrrr..... Well Fu*k. New ecu did not solve the problem. Bike will start and run now without stalling but idle is all Over the place, still stutters and is rough. They're chasing down sensors for a 2nd time and wiring. Any TSB's or common issues I should notify them about?

These guys are not shady tech's, they are damn good but electrical stuff is time consuming. I may be in for 2 options, either get my money back or another bike.
Ahhhhh! If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
