Speedometer and odometer not working

Hi everyone, I need assistance here. My baby Z1 year 2011 need help. My speedometer and odometer not working. It means when i speed up, it will not show the speed and my kilometer record distance stop at 6k. The rest of the meter such like fuel, RPM and clock are all working. i recently change by rear sproket cover change to DMV plastic see through cover. I am not sure if these are the reason since there is a cencor on it or something else problem....thanking in advance for all your advice...

my brother had an issue like this on his bike, what it came down to was a gear housing, simple fix actually. i do not know if the z1000 has one but at the front of the tire there is a housing with a needle inside that measures ur speed. that needle retracts(i believe) the faster you go. I will have to look into it if your bike has one or if someone has a service manual that can tell you. also could be a fuse that went out

The vehicle speed sensor is in the sprocket cover. That's where the computer gets the info to determine vehicle speed. If you changed the sprocket cover and didn't move the speed sensor to the new cover the speedo/odo will always read zero since it's getting no signal from the sensor.
