I use R&G's clear pad because it's the last noticeable. You can barely see if unless you're like 10 feet away. If I had a black bike I would probably used something techspec as it provide much better traction with textile pants than the R&G, but because my bike is white I didn't want an eyesore stuck on the tank. With leathers the R&G's provide excellent grip, however with textile pants very little.
I did have to trim it slightly because the tip had a strange shape that didn't align well with the curve of the tank. Also, on this last track day, I noticed that at full lean my leg was mostly gripping the frame and frame cover, not necessarily the fuel tank, so maybe a frame pad would be more useful for hanging off the bike. On this bike, I feel as a tank pad is mostly used to keep you from sliding back on the seat from acceleration.
