Speedometer off

After I installed my GPS and went on a ride (yes I actually made it back home)I noticed that there is a 4 MPH difference between my GPS and my speedometer. The GPS shows 51 MPH and the speedometer showing 55 MPH. 4 MPH seems like a pretty big difference to me. Anyone else have this issue? Tires are Michelin and not over or undersized.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

I just installed a HealTech SpeedoHealer. HealTech states that stock speedo's can be off by as much as 5.5%. Mine was.

It's typical for most any speedometer.

Doesnt surprise me at all.

Remember this next time you get pulled over. I used it once as a defense in traffic court and it worked! I told them that I couldnt have been going as fast as he said, because my speedo was off by 4-5mph - ALL speedos are off by that much. Judge dismissed it, rather than give me a fine for going 5mph over the limit - which I would have argued was safe speed for the freeway (there is a difference between the Speed Limit and the Maximum Speed signs - you arent supposed to exceed a Maximum Speed sign, but you can legally go faster than a posted Speed Limit if traffic is moving faster than the posted limit - and we all know that no one actually drives 65mph on the freeway...)

2010 Z1000 - MODS: M4 exhaust, Rizoma crash protectors, Rizoma swingarm bobbins, Rizoma fork sliders, Rizoma billet aluminum front brake reservoir, Fren Tubo steel braided lines with custom orange covers, integrated tail light/blinkers, fender eliminator, RhinoMoto bar ends and CRG bar end mirror. Carbon Fiber upper side panels, carbon fiber FI cover, Pro-Bolt engine kit, fairing kit and gas cap kit. Now Im BROKE!

I put a speedohealer on my 08. The calculator on healtech's website is pretty close. Since my bike is geared +2 I figured it best to fix it so my mileage would be correct. 5* mod to me.

Mine is off 10% from 20 to 50MPH and 8% after that (about 5mph at 60) I think they didn't recalibrate the ZR6 speedometer when they put it on the ninja 1000. 180 to 190 tire. In the age of computers I think this inaccuracy is appalling!!!

+1

My speedo was off by over 6% stock. Went +1 on the front sprocket and it's pretty close now. Within 1mph at any speed I've checked.
