Default Aftermarket exhaust for the Z1000 08

Hi guys.

I have been following this forum for some time now, and earlyer today I signed a contract to buy a 08 Z1000.
It is being shipped by boat and will be in my hands next week hopefully.

I will probably have allot of questions after the bike arives and so on, but I will save them for that time.

I am very excited for this, not only because this is an awesome bike, but also since it is my first big bike.

The bike I bought has the stock exhaust, wich is not very appealing to me.
I would like to get some aftermarked pipes, and I am lookin for some advice on what to buy.

I have been looking allot on the 4-2-1 Akrapovic pipes wich I think (from watching youtube clips) has very nice sound, it also looks very good in my eyes.
I really like the deep sound they seem to give. Pipes like the Leo vince GP Pro seems to give a more "sparkier" sound (if I am not mistaken) and I don't like that as much.

Are there any other obvious choices? I am prepared to pay the high price for the Akras, but if there are any other good choices out there, it would be nice to know.

Also: If I were to buy only slip-ons, What would be the difference becides the weight? Will it be more quiet? Would it be a smaller HP gain?

I'm Going to leave it at that for now, and I hope I can get some help on my way to making the ride my own!

Christoffer

akrapovic is probably the best exhaust. the stock mufflers weigh 40 lbs. u wont get a hp gain from slip ons or a full exhaust. u may gain a few hp on top but u will lose a little hp in the lower rpm range due to removing the exhaust valve. a power commander & a dynotune will fix that though.

im sure peak hp is better with a complete exhaust but u would more than likely lose hp in the lower rpms until u get it mapped to compensate for removing the exhaust valve.

I had the same model and I was running MIVV GP short carbon pipes, took the baffles out, sounded awesome.
Would love to get that noise back from my 2011 model.

Is the exhaust valve located in the manifoil or the rear end of the system?

Do you lose the valve if you go for slip ons?

it is in the right or left muffler, not sure which one.

yea the 2nd & 3rd gen zs exhaust valve is on the right side. luckily for me the first gen. zs dont have that valve. i think the aftermarket exhaust companies should make their mufflers with the valve in them or atleast have a place to put it if u want to.
