I am about 90% sure I will be the proud new owner of a 2010 Z1000 come this weekend! I have been riding a Honda 599 (Hornet) for the past few years. I have read through some of the site and it looks like a great group of people with some great info.
I am super excited about the bike (bone stock) and couldn't resist putting together my plans for mods. I have put together a list below and was curious if any of you had any feedback or suggestions.
Exhaust: DanMoto or Vance & Hines
(I prefer a deep rumble to screaming loud - db killers are being considered)
Sliders: Open to ideas
Thanks everyone! Also, I apologize if links are not allowed on this site, if so please let me know and I will be sure to modify the thread accordingly.
You sound like me - I had a list of plans before I even bought mine as well! Welcome to the SICKNESS!
For sliders, check out Rizoma - they arent cheap, but they are beautifully machined and look awesome on the bike.
Fender Eliminator....I wouldnt pay for one, as they are asking too much for something you can make out of left over parts for under $5. Search these forums for threads about how to make one heck of cheap...
Bar end mirrors...thats what I have! Some people just move the controls an inch inwards, then mount the mirrors directly onto the bars. I ended up opting for bar end weights from Rhinomoto.com, who makes bar end weights that have a cut out to accommodate the bar end mirror...

What next?
Just looked at the link for that $25 fender eliminator....dude, do not waste your money on that. There is already one of those on the bike!
The license plate is attached to a metal plate, which is attached to the plastic shovel/fender. If you unbolt that metal plate you can bolt it directly to where the fender was bolted on, bend down both sides to make a space for the blinkers to attach to, and youre done. All you would need is two 1" right angle brackets (hardware store for $0.50) and the plate is hung... Its not like this particular fender eliminator has a cut out to accommodate the light for the plate....so why bother paying for it when you can make it out of existing parts??
Thanks for the input, good to know about the fender eliminator. Hopefully I will be picking up the bike this weekend. I tried to upload a photo but the size photo allowable is so small that I really don't think the pic would be useful.
Thanks for the warm welcomes and the advice. I plan on doing the fender eliminator myself and I've been leaning towards the danmotos. I will probably order the db killer inserts as they aren't too much of an added expense so I can quite it down a bit when I need to.

I only have one problem with those kinds of frame sliders... You ever had an accident with those on your bike?? If you go down at any kind of speed, they tend to get bent, making it very difficult to remove and replace them... I had to hacksaw the thing off my old bike to replace them... Also, Ive seen these kinds dig into dirt and end up having the bike go end over end rather than just sliding...
Something to consider... None of us PLANS on going down!
