Contours look exactly the same. Difference is only in the padding and cover?

The contour is pretty much the same, yes. The padding is different, and there's more of a scoop section where your butt goes, but that may be hard to tell from the photos.

Those of you who got the deal, good for you. I hope the seat works for you.

Me, after my experience with Sargent, both nine months ago, and today, I won't ever buy anything from them.

Nine months ago I bought a (barely used) Sargent Low seat for my Suzuki DR650. An hour after putting it on, it was off again and for sale. It was AWFUL. I went back to my Bill Mayer seat that came with the bike. I had tried switching to the Sargent to get a lower seat height, but it was so uncomfortable that my butt was sore in only 65 miles.

Fast forward to present-day. I had pre-registered for the release of the Z1000 seat. Since there was no commitment, I figured why not. But this was back in May, and I had totally forgotten about it.

I remembered this today while surfing another site, and realized I hadn't gotten the email with the discount code. So I called them up to see if they'd help me out. Instead, all I got was a, "we'll research this and call you back." And guess what? No callback. How f'ing long does it take to do a quick check of your database to see if I'm there or not? And if I'm not, it seems to me the right thing to do is to honor the discount anyway. Or at the VERY least, a call back and say sorry. Instead, nothing.

So Sargent, you guys can get bent. I don't want your f'ing seat. I made a ride-in appointment for the Bill Mayer factory next week, and they'll custom-make the seat to fit me perfectly.

I have no patience for companies with crap customer service.

Rob

What I need to know is will the Sarge make any difference in your comfort
levels, coz thats why you bought it right... if it looks the same feels the same
why do I need it... Not being offensive just giving some point of view.
I looked at the Corbin for the Z1 and I think it may be a better product.
However I cannot verify this as I dont have it..Its $350bucks AUD

The shape of both seats (Sargent and Corbin) are both quite different. It's hard to tell from the photos, but the back part of the seat is wider, and the "sharp" (for lack of a better word) edges have been smoothed out. They also "fatten up" near the tank to help keep you from sliding forward.

If I HAD to pick Sargent or Corbin, I would take the Corbin. From the photos, I like the stitching better, the seating surface is real leather, and it's $20 cheaper than the Sargent.

I am new to this forum as you can see but I have had many different motorcycles over the years and just as many custom seats. My experience is that a Corbin although very well made is like sitting on a board. They are very hard and you are told to let it "break in" one of my Corbins I got from someone who outweighed me by over 100 pounds you would think it would have been broken in by him to at least suit me, Not. I have had Russell Day long and they were not what they are cracked up to be. I have had some replaced with gel and other wonder materials but I have to tell you that the 2 Sargent seats I have now one on a ZX14 and the other on a BKing are the best seats I have ever owned and I am very sensitive to my comfort so if I get a Ninja 1000 a Sargent seat will be first on my list. One more thing, you can go to most any motorcycle forum and search Corbin customer service and be ready to read hours of horror stories.
